Samus vs Ivy! Cloud vs Chun Li! Link vs Mega Man X!

Before your head explodes, no, this game isn't a planned release, commercial or non-commercial, for the DS. Card Sagas Wars is a homemade PC project created with M.U.G.E.N, a "freeware 2D fighting game engine." The music and backgrounds have been ripped from a variety of popular games, but it looks like the character sprites have been redrawn for a consistent (and totally awesome) look.
If anything, Card Sagas Wars' developers are ambitious, setting out to include a collection of playable characters that would put even Super Smash Bros. Brawl to shame, its posted list of 995 "Blue Series" cards ranging from Killer Instinct's Cinder to Castlevania's Soma Cruz. A demo with four playable fighters is currently in the works, but no concrete date has been set for its release. You can see an older, less epic trailer for Card Sagas Wars past the break.

Lion is from the RPG "Tales of Destiny." He's also known as Judas on Tales of Destiny 2. All of the characters from the "Tales of" seem like they'd fit nicely in Mugen.

they could get away with it if they released it in Japan and made all the characters super deformed, thats how they get away with it with super robot wars

Considering they're not making any money off this, and M.U.G.E.N. has been around since 1999, I'm thinking the game companies don't really care.

Unfortunately, this game suffers from the absolute worst user base ever. Most of the creators will get angry if the materials they ripped appear on another website and immediately pull it from their site. Most of the actually players consist of 12 year old children who spam every gaming message board in existence with "loking 4 g0ku & prz bush." It's just not worth it to get into this game, I'm afraid.
