The Bossman's still in the DragonZone; the Virtual Console is headed to the Riot Zone
Despite the game apparently being quite mediocre, we can't help but be excited about the arrival of Hudson's Riot Zone on the Virtual Console this Monday. To be honest, we haven't gotten over the gee-whiz factor of being able to download Turbografx-16 CD-ROM games. Also, we love brawlers. Well, I love brawlers. Dave may have something else to say after playing it.
The game is basically a whole-cloth Final Fight clone, which we're secretly okay with. It's not our copyright. Capcom seems to be doing okay with their whole fighting-game thing, even after being ripped off. Riot Zone at least one-ups Final Fight in awesomely Engrish intro cinemas!

Two things:
1) "Awesome" and "Engrish" are basically synonyms, using them next to each other _may_ be redundant.
2) Please tell me that this intro is in the VC game, fully intact. If so, I will go download it immediately, because I want another good Final Fight Clone and I love Engrish.

Who's excited for Bubble Bobble?

I'm sure it's half NYC 80's slang and half Engrish.

Unfortunately Riot Zone isn't medicore, it's terrible. (and that is coming from a huge TGX fanboy)
I still have my original Super CD of the game and have tried multiple times to get into the game, but the game play is so horribly bland that it is hard to play no matter how much I want to like the game. If it had co-op, it would be a passible romp with a friend, but as is, it's just not very good :(.
I would normally heartily recommend downloading any Turbo game as I think they're very good for the most part and horribly underappreciated, but I have to say you should save your cash and not get this one. Splatterhouse is the only game that comes to mind right away as being a good 'fighting' game on the Turbo, and it's a bit of a stretch to call it that.
