Nintendo of Australia makes one little girl's Christmas extra-special

Everyone likes an uplifting story during the holidays, don't they? Heck, we like to read or hear about them any chance we get. And this story is no different, as one little girl in Australia suffering from arthrogryposis, a degenerative muscle disease, recently got a wonderful gift from Nintendo.

After trying a family friend's console and having a great time, that same wonderful friend wrote to Nintendo directly and got little Taylor a console sent to her, free of charge. As you might imagine, she was absolutely thrilled to receive something that can keep her active without pushing her so hard, but also something that brings a smile to her face and is quite fun. Merry Christmas, little Taylor!

In this little world we all live in, we can smile big shiny smiles knowing our $100,000 annual salary is giving $1 to the charity of our choice as we smile proudly that we donate to help the needy.

But you can pass a homeless person, dying of cold and starvation between the alley of a coat and jacket store and a restaurant and feel oh-so-high and mighty that you just helped that individual homeless person kick his very-likely fictional drinking habit and saved him from destroying his liver. Goodness knows, his liver will give out long before his body heat will.

So while you're leaning back, condemning Nintendo for it's $250 donation in the form of a product to this young girl, you smile with yourself and your .01% donation to your charity, while Nintendo did the same quickly and happily, but goodness knows altruism is all things if not lost to humanity. So very honestly Nintendo did this, a cheap scam to get advertising dollars out of a muscular disabled little girl who's actually enjoying herself without exhausting herself.

Shame on you Nintendo. Glad to see people punishing Nintendo for doing niceness.

And when this altruism dries up altogether let's all pass a nice, warm, family "THANK YOU" to our good friend "Anon" for showing us the light, that kindness is bad.

I'm personally feeling a little smarter.

Thats awesome... some people will just think its a big company showing off, but if it wasn't Ninty themselves, I'm sure someone or some other smaller company/group would have stepped up as well.

I know roughly about 10 years ago every single hand written letter I sent Nintendo was replied to.

My feelings of Nintendo Australia are mixed. When the system files in my Wii corrupted, they replaced it free of charge. But, when one of my Wiimotes was playing up (e.g. constant motion detected), they drove me up the wall.

Then again, I have won and received many things from them. I bought two games to get the Zelda Collector's Disc, won a Pac-Pix stylus, and won a Metroid Prime plate for my GameCube (only 1000 were given away).

OK... for the people who are bashing nintendo... wake up...

Its the hollidays, and if you read correctly A FRIEND sent a letter to Nintendo asking to make her holliday special. So in light of the occasion Nintendo decided to send her the Wii.
No one told Nintendo to do this, and Nintendo already is the the highest selling company, so doing this one good deed wont really effect their sales at all.

Just because you didnt get one doesnt mean that you have to bash nintendo for sending a free console to a little girl for christmas. Think about what she felt when she got it! She is diseased and cant function properly, and when she gets the attention to get a free video game console, it would mean the WORLD to her, and they probably expanded her lifespan a couple years because of Nintendo's good deed that you people seem content of "They just did it to make them look good."

I think it was a bold move, and Bravo Nintendo! Keep up the good work!

Any one who picks on Nintendo for doing that they are real scum. Most companies don't give a crap about their consumer. Nintendo actually goes that extra mile for their customers. And for the comment about Nintendo donating to charity, do some research before you comment. Nintendo donates to charity all the time. See below.

Now, I don't know anything about arthrogryposis but you're right. Giving money to a group that may or may not develop a cure to her problem after she dies is better than making her (possibly) short life enjoyable. [/sarcasm]

They do love only a select few people....Remember they still take much longer than what it should to get high demand games out here. And then they set the price at a rate that is outrageous compared to the US...honestly...I'm happy for this little girl as it is a time of giving and making people happy.

But in America GH:III is $90 convert that to Australian...it's just over $100...but we're paying from $120 up to $150...And I'm not surprised if WiiFit is $150 or more! SSBB is $50 pre-ordered over there, no doubt it'll be $100 here...$70 if we're lucky.

Think about it...
