How to play Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, eventually

To get players ready for the Jump Festa demo, Square Enix has posted the control scheme for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days on the game's official website. While we don't necessarily need to know which button does what, it's an easy way to find out what can be done in the game at all. NeoGAF's Kyoufu translated the diagram, and revealed some details of the game's multiplayer in addition to the awkward control scheme: In multiplayer, one player controls Roxas and others control As for the control scheme: it is an attempt to cram all of the functionality of the original games' dual-analog, four-shoulder-button control scheme onto the DS, and it sounds about as natural as you would expect from such an endeavor. For example, you have to hold both L and R to lock onto an enemy -- the individual shoulder buttons handle camera control. Also, menu control has been moved from the d-pad (of course) to the X button -- we think that you scroll through options by tapping X. Kyoufu's translation is reproduced after the break.

L: Move camera left
R: Move camera right
Press L or R twice: camera resets behind player
L+R: Lockon
D-pad: control character
X: scroll through command list (attack, magic, item)
A: perform command
B: Jump, double tap for double jump, press with direction after jumping once to air slide
Y: Reflect Guard, press with direction for dodge roll, after jumping press with direction to glide
Start: pause"

i wonder if they have sound on the movies,like,the voices and stuff.graphics look pretty ps2 like.

apparently, no one over at Square has played Phantom Hourglass...thats how they should have handled the controls for Kingdon hearts...

Are you kidding? Using the stylus to move around would be horrible! It would be VERY hard to multi-task (in terms of choosing items/magic attacks), AND while dodging enemy attacks. The control scheme is as good as it can get on the DS, and it's pretty bloody good. At first you might think "Using the X button to scroll through commands is horrible, I'll never be able to choose what I want", but think again, because now there's only 3 commands to cycle through, so it will be deceptively easy to quickly tap the X button to get to items or magic.
