Oz gets Zack & Wiki in February, Wii Fanboy suggests everyone buy it
Gamers down under are getting a treat come February 21st when Capcom's stellar title Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure hits retail shelves. Australia, we have one thing to ask you: will you please buy this game? Seriously, you need it.
When we reviewed the game, we found it to be one of the absolute best games on the system. It's such an amazing game on all levels that we're incredibly surprised that nobody else thought so, as the game's sales were incredibly poor. We wondered if complex games such as this would even have a future on the Wii. Actually, we still do.
So, Australia, do your part. Make sure you buy this amazing game.

Agreed! Excellent game with some pretty mind-challenging puzzles, a bit of humor, and an excellent use of the Wiimote. Only frustrating part sometimes is needing to restart the levels (or for me, trying to do the music mini-games - worth it, but I have coordination problems at times).
I'm still playing it now trying for completeness and to figure out how to get the extra treasures that pop up once you've officially beaten the game. Help us get more games like this. :-)

I rented this game and I must say it is worth buying. I may pick up pretty soon. It's really fun. I find myself playing it for hours.

Actually, i think that this game will have a long sales life, with it being a new IP most people were scared to buy it, but its looking something like the Wii and Wii Sports, everybody that has touched it has now wanted to go out and get it for themselves, its just that good, i see this being something like a brain age effect, where normally it sells small numbers on a monthly basis but it keeps selling month to month... i know for one, i'm still going to be part of the campaign to get everybody to buy it... but one thing is still certain... STORES NEED TO CARRY IT FOR MY FRIENDS TO BUY IT... WE CANNOT EVEN FIND THE DARN GAME!

I was afraid to to check it out despite the good reviews because it was a new franchise. I also never saw any commercials for it. But now with the state of new adventure games at stake, and the stellar reviews I really want to pick it up!

PS. I will be adding 5 games to the sales total, lol.. i forced some of my friends that said they were getting the game to give me the money so that i can be sure that they really get it and not just say they are.... so thats 6 sold (if i can find the other five) for me...:-)

I just hope there's no confusion when Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a...movie comes out in late 2008.

If it's marketed well enough it might make it into the top 10.

What a cute character design!

I just returned my rental copy of this. It's a pretty great game, but unfortunately I didn't finish it (I found there were several more levels beyond the primary objective.)
It *does* get frustrating at times. Having to start a level from the beginning, etc. There was at least one time I revived myself only to find out that I had about two seconds to click on something before i died again. Yet despite any frustration, I couldn't stop playing it. The "a-ha" moment when you realize how everything (or just some things) fits together is always a nice feeling.

Ok, this game is still being considered a flop. Here are the latest American Sales Figures for it and a few other games (wii charts only):
Place Wks. On Chart Wkly. Total
34 Zack & Wiki 8 10,853 115,462
46 EA Playground 8 7,514 84,630
21 The Simpsons Game 7 17,482 133,378
31 Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 5 12,430 105,192
43 Manhunt 2 7 7,715 130,527
--------------------------------------------------------------
Considering the buzz behind Manhunt 2, its surprising that it has done little better than Zack and Wiki. Several other Wii exclusive titles and ports have done about the same, or worse, without being labled spectacular failures, like 'Trauma Center: New Blood,'
which it could be argued is more of a niche title. But then so is an old school point and click adventure with cute pirates, one of whom is a flying heli-monkey. But the game DOES seem fit to have long legs, and I anticipate the buzz growing with this one over time. I played it for the first time today as a matter of fact, and I thought it was spectacular.

Z&W is the best third-party game out for the Wii. I'd give it a 9/10. Considering the lack of advertising, the new franchise-ness, and the supply issues upon release, I think the sales are pretty good. The game deserves better, but let's be realistic.

I recommend this game for everyone especially those with lazy ass and big head ..
Mr.Nitemare @ Dec 19th 2007 11:46PM
well actually given the lower development costs for wii games 100,000 games sold in the us alone equates to a 5 million dollar income for one region, so actually its not as bad as it seems, i don't know the exact develpment costs for a wii game, but it seems that at between 300,000 and 500,000 games sold worldwide is a profit mark for Wii games

And don't forget folks, January 18th in Europe!!! I'll be totally buying it as soon as it comes out.
