Comparing Cruis'n on N64 and Wii (you know, because it's funny)
We haven't laughed this hard since Seinfeld was new (actually, a couple of episodes of Arrested Development had us laughing this hard). Cruis'n on the Wii is kind of like the joke that never dies here at the Wii Fanboy offices. Now, as if from some kind of divine intervention, we have more fuel for this fire of comedy. Why would anyone do a comparison video of these two games, anyway? Are they trying to have us laugh ourselves to death?
Someone should turn this game into a sitcom. We'd watch it.

I still lol every time I watch it. XD
Drew @ Dec 15th 2007 12:16PM
LMAO!!
You see, this is exactly the kind of material that PS3 fanboys use to bash the Wii.
Haha, but Cruisin' USA was like, the awesome-est game ever. I loved it so much :)
As a matter of fact, I think I still have it laying around here somewhere...
Nav @ Dec 15th 2007 12:21PM
Yeah, I cracked up just reading the title of this when it popped up in my reader. And it really is surprising how close the two are - have the creators of Cruisin' not seen SMG or MP3? Did no-one send them a manual on how to program for the Wii?
gevenstaines @ Dec 15th 2007 12:34PM
cruis'n USA used to be my favorite game! (long ago).
but this matter is not funny. wii owners don't have any good racing games (and don't say excite truck or bongo blast). the best racing experience we have is probably wii fit jogging or olympic dream race. i'll be diligently waiting for f-zero, wave race, or rush.
Gun Barrier @ Dec 15th 2007 12:43PM
how about mario kart, thats a given!
Drew @ Dec 16th 2007 7:31PM
Oh man I would KILL for a Wii Wave Race!
One of my favorite games on the N64
SoulBlade @ Dec 15th 2007 12:39PM
I just feel bad for the developers on it. I doubt any of them are happy with the game, or maybe it's a really young team's first attempt. Whatever the case, this game is getting shat on and hopefully it makes them step up.
Don't really care about Cruis'n. For those fortunate enough to have multiple consoles, I'm sure racing fans are eager for the next Burnout. I do, however, care about the Wii, and really hope this game hits shelves with much higher quality.
hellvector @ Dec 15th 2007 12:40PM
ROFL! Never get tired of that moaning song on LA Highway. Yeah I still have Cruisin' USA on my 64, wouldn't mind a multiplayer port for the DS actually. Always considered it the best of the franchise.
wiiboy101gezza @ Dec 15th 2007 12:55PM
its just 3rd partys taking a bit of wii out of us, didnt the ds and still dose at times, suffer the gba graphics knightmare same applys to wii thell be prime 3 visual killers on wii in 12 months time i think a lot of 3rd partys do this on purpose and a lot of unhonest industre insiders use these ovious cash ins to try and say its all wii can do i meen as if im that misguided about hardware and software
gpus that are no were near as goood as hollywood and have the same ob paper pipes and fillrates were renering at 1080i 5 years ago hollywood can do 360 like graphics at 480p wen used the way it should be those graphics are so funny it kinda aint funny

Gotta love that bus moment.
nick @ Dec 15th 2007 1:04PM
this is why i stay away from 3rd party games on Wii, they just think they can shovel crap on a nintendo system, and we will buy it. btw is crusin USA on VC yet?
Tristan @ Dec 15th 2007 1:05PM
well luckily they arent selling cruisn for full price :/ id rent it like i did all the cruisin games.
Santo @ Dec 15th 2007 1:27PM
The Cruisin' series always kinda sucked anyway.
San Francisco Rush all the way.
GenoBaby @ Dec 15th 2007 1:51PM
Nintendo needs to bring back their Seal of Approval thinga-ma-jiggy.
Undead Priest @ Dec 15th 2007 4:10PM
The Seal of Quality only meant the game would run on the hardware properly, not that the game was any good.
GenoBaby @ Dec 15th 2007 4:23PM
It means that now... but when it was first announced it represented quality:

Anticrawl @ Dec 15th 2007 5:09PM
Ahahahaha.....ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew this would happen. People bitched and moaned about the Nintendo Seal of Qaulity back in the day because it severly hindered the amount of games that came to its console. But I for one liked it. Then when they change the policy to be more friendly to 3rd parties we start noticing all these shitty games being shoveled out and demand quality control!
People are fucking stupid, I for one personally loved the Seal of Quality idea.
BIZKeT @ Dec 15th 2007 2:06PM
As I was watching the video I was thinking that they did a really good job of updating the graphics and adding new levels.
Then I realized that this wasn't a download from the Wii store, but a title made specifically for the Wii and sold in stores.
WTF?
Mr Khan @ Dec 15th 2007 2:40PM
More sad than funny
hell, i'd feel sorry for them even if i were a Wii hater, i mean there's laughably pathetic, then there's Cruis'n
DeadPlasmaCell @ Dec 15th 2007 2:46PM
Damn.. the only difference is a slightly better frame rate.. How can this be!?
Vidaluko @ Dec 15th 2007 3:25PM
And the elements in screen, in the N64 game the trees, bridges, and stuff just pop up in the screen seconds before you reach them, in the Wii version they are always...
But I have to agree, this is some kind of sick joke to all Wii owners...
MemphisNET @ Dec 15th 2007 2:46PM
I'd rather play the original.
In fact, *hooks up N64*
nathew @ Dec 15th 2007 5:12PM
looks more like an SNES to GCN comparison to me.
BananaBoat @ Dec 15th 2007 5:37PM
Oh god, I thought I was watching a VC version of the original game that had been retouched. Is this actually supposed to be a Wii game? If it is, it's offensive.
Not as offensive as Crysis only selling 80,000 copies...but still...pretty offensive.
Mr.blonde @ Dec 17th 2007 8:09PM
It looks alot better than the N64 version, but it looks alot worse that a gamecube game.
ALH @ Dec 15th 2007 6:46PM
looks like a pretty big difference between the two. Not wii-grade difference, but certainly early n64 vs late playstation.
Keine @ Dec 16th 2007 3:42AM
You do know that n64 was graphically superior to the playstation, right?
ALH @ Dec 16th 2007 6:21AM
My experience with n64 games has been that of a blocky mess, while my experience of playstation has been a more refined blocky mess, i dont recall ever seeing sprites as good looking as the ones in ff9 in an n64 game,or environments as good as silent hill but feel free to show me something to the contrary.
Ranus Studios @ Dec 15th 2007 8:49PM
I think I'd rather play the N64 one. That one's clearly funnier.
Ghen @ Dec 16th 2007 8:19AM
Wow, thats funny.. The N64 actually did better IMO since they realized that the golden gate bridge is red ROFL.
axl @ Dec 16th 2007 12:20PM
Come on Midway, this is really the worse game ever see since the snes era.
You need to put the Stranglehold team to develop the next Cruis'n for Wii next-gen title!!
GANNONSMASH @ Dec 16th 2007 2:42PM
I don't get it. The Wii version is clearly much much better. It's really not that horrible. :|
Nik @ Dec 16th 2007 8:46PM
Cruis'n has to be my most disappointing game of the year. I love this franchise so much and when I heard it was coming to Wii I was excited despite the crap graphics. Truth is that "Cruis'n" is a three year old Fast and the Furious arcade game with the license stripped off.
