Wireless Nunchuk removes the very last controller cord from your living room
Nyko has funneled the research funding for their dearly missed Party Station project into a new peripheral. Much like the Party Station had a very simple vision of enhancing every aspect of your Wii parties (except the people attending), the newest peripheral adheres to a clear ideal: removing that one cord from the Wii controller.
The Wireless Nunchuck is -- big surprise -- a wireless Nunchuk. It doesn't have autofire or a cooling fan or anything. It differs from Nintendo's product only in that it's got no wire, clear buttons and a "c" in the name. Amusingly, it'll also include its own wrist strap.
We personally don't care about having the Nunchuk tethered to the Wiimote, with one important exception. We're getting one of these specifically so we can pose that much more flamboyantly in Samba de Amigo. This should nicely substitute for the two-Wiimote control scheme that everyone constantly begs for.
Nyko will announce the pricing and release date and stuff at CES.

Will this need batteries every 3 days like the Wiimote? :p
SoshiKitai @ Dec 7th 2007 11:05AM
Not true all the time... some games actually don't drain as much batteries from the Wiimote as others...
Take Budokai Tenkaichi 2... That made your batteries run out within just a SINGLE DAY of non-stop playing!
Now take the New Budokai Tenkaichi 3... I'm on my 2nd week of playing it (almost 5-15 hours everyday), and it's still FULL BATTERIES!
...it's kinda' creeping me out.

No, you will just get the Nyko Wireless 'Nunchuck' Charging Dock that comes out two months later... lol
I would have wanted a wireless nunchuk for my zapper (so as not to have to do all that door opening wire wrappy-wrappy) but then look that dongle thingy on the remote (which is really quite necessary) would not work in the zapper. So boo and also hoo!
Metayoshi @ Dec 7th 2007 1:31PM
Meh, the Wiimote charging dock from Nyko is one of the worst. Sometimes, it doesn't even charge your Wiimote, I kinda wasted a few bucks getting it, but it does it's job... if you're persistent with it that is...
As for the Wireless Nunchuk, I doubt there will be any bugs with it, but I really don't think I'll be needing it.
Jonathan Tran @ Dec 7th 2007 11:04AM
Yeah this is pretty awesome! I wish the colors matched a little closer.
I can't wait till someone designs a 3rd party wiimote with better button placement.
MountainLionLink @ Dec 7th 2007 11:04AM
H'm this would be something I would like to have, as the cord always wraps oddly around my hand I and feel like I'm going to rip the male portion of the connector out of the port on the wii mote.
As long as its under $25.00. I'll probably purchase it.
velocitystrike @ Dec 7th 2007 11:15AM
I have a feeling it'll be really light and feel a bit tacky thus.
Skippy @ Dec 7th 2007 1:42PM
Batteries will add weight
Jeremy @ Dec 7th 2007 11:18AM
Another place to shove batteries. I also have a few concerns about this. One will it be interference free if using more than one in multi player games. Also IGN stated that it will use 2.4 GHz so will their be problems with cordless phones that uses 2.4 GHz. I am sure that it will have a short battery life plus the unit that plugs into the back of the Wii remote will more than likely cause an even shorter life of the remotes batteries. Personally I have no problems with the wire and I have yet to play a game were it got in my way. I am guessing that this will be about as useful as the wireless sensor bar (which is not much if you have the original).

I care(d), at least while playing Red Steel. I'd do the two handed downward katana strike and whip myself in the sack with that damn cord. I had to start wrapping the cord around my forearm in order to duel.
Matt B @ Dec 7th 2007 11:55AM
This isn't a bad idea. I find that when I playing some games (Wii Sports Boxing comes to mind) the cord will get in the way and impede my playing.
B1gC72 @ Dec 7th 2007 12:09PM
that thing is dammed hideous to me lol. i think its the color mostly. but it seems pretty nice in terms of functionality since im a tall guy with long arms and i cant always stretch out like i want to sometimes cause of the short cord. i dont know if i would buy one or not because of the whole "god i hate batteries" thing but its still pretty cool. (and im not buying a charging stand until i buy Brawl and Galaxy since i dont play my Wii enough otherwise to warrant the $30.)
wiiluver135 @ Dec 7th 2007 12:27PM
same here, but the main reason I'm buy this is because when I'm playing M&S:ATOG the DAMN cord ALWAYS gets caught up in my shaking...no loger will I have to worry about this!
BTW, is your name Chris by any chance?
mian @ Dec 7th 2007 12:41PM
I still want a dual wiimote (read: dual IR) scheme for FPS. How sweet would would real dual wield with independent aiming be? It'd be even better if nyko made a nunmote with an analog stick.
gevenstaines @ Dec 7th 2007 1:03PM
they will probably just announce in a few weeks that it's too expensive and scrap the project.
but IF it comes out i will defenitely buy. too bad games probably won't come out that require it. yoga and aerobics games for example.
LilCo187 @ Dec 7th 2007 1:40PM
Hmmm....looks to be unable to hook up to the Wiimote while a Wiimote Jacket is on it. Dealbreaker indeed.
Skippy @ Dec 7th 2007 1:43PM
Does it have its own wrist strap?
JC Fletcher @ Dec 7th 2007 1:47PM
I have no idea where you could even find that kind of information.
LilCo187 @ Dec 7th 2007 2:31PM
Yea, wrist strap is included.
JC Fletcher, wrong, just worng.
Skippy @ Dec 7th 2007 2:58PM
Was that in the original post or added later?
My eyesight must be going...
Zack W. @ Dec 7th 2007 4:06PM
Well...more importantly...does it have its own wrist strap?!? I would like to know this very much JC.
velocitystrike @ Dec 7th 2007 5:30PM
It says in the freaking post.
"Amusingly, it'll also include its own wrist strap."
Although, I can see how it'd be difficult to confuse the words "its own" with "absolutely no sign of a"

They do look alike, don't they? ;)
Link84 @ Dec 7th 2007 10:11PM
Now imagine your little brother snatching the wireless Nunchuck from you and running around the house with it. (Or even worse, make you lose in that all important boss battle).
i would buy it, but I already have 2 Wiimotes and 2 (wired) Nunchuks.
gevenstaines @ Dec 7th 2007 8:30PM
an honest mistake, nuff said
Dale @ Dec 8th 2007 4:25AM
I will purchase them when they come out, however im sick of using so many batteries

jp @ Dec 8th 2007 4:27AM
i couldn't care less about a wireless nunchuk. give me a wireless classic controller though and i'll be happy.
Matthew @ Dec 10th 2007 12:45AM
During a round of DBZ:BT3 a few nights ago a friend of mine nearly pulled the nunchuck out of the wiimote. Also the cord is always being thrown around. The Wii is about motion, so I assume this happens a lot. I would definately buy this if it's $25-30.
Yami @ Jan 9th 2008 10:29AM
My dreams have come true, no more hitting myself in the face while using Spirit bomb or DDR dancing with the cord everywhere or the cord getting all tangled and always having to keep it out with the cord straight.
Anyways aslong as it's under 100$ definate buy.
