Worms: A Space Oddity screens wriggle to the surface
We love us some Worms, particularly those of the superior 2D variety, so news that the Wii would be getting its very own title dedicated to the soft-bodied invertebrates raised spirits somewhat in the NWF dungeons.
These new shots of Worms: A Space Oddity follow up from October's lone trailer (which you can view after the post break), and certainly live up to the "Space " bit in the title; those green worms look reassuringly Martian. All being well, the antagonistic annelids should be touching down on Earth around next March, though considering its cheapness on PC and Xbox Live Arcade, anyone else think a budget price might be in order here?

I've loved the Worms games for sometime, but more so the 2D versions. Hopefully this game lives up to my expectations. The use of the Wiimote should bring something to the game's interface, but hopefully it won't be anything gimmicky. Worms Armageddon/World Party was close to perfect with just having to use the arrow keys and the space bar along with a few other keys. Having to spin the wiimote around in order to do a special move for a special power-up doesn't excite me. Still, I'm looking forward to this one...

I don't know: 'Geometry Wars: Galaxies' is worth more than its XBL coutnerpart 'Combat Evolved,' that's fo sure!

Worms: Open Warfare 2 on the DS is some of the best fun multiplayer (despite the nagging bugs where the game becomes desynched on both DSes with download or internet play). I'm looking forward to this one if it has online play.

According to Nintendo Power, it doesn't.

According to Gamespot and IGN, it does.
Who to believe, eh?

According to the game's press release, it does:
"The online multiplayer experience pits up to four Worms fiends from all over the world against each other."

This should totally be Wii Ware. There's no reason for a game as simple as Worms to take up a whole DVD.
