Japan preorders 300,000 Wii Fit, printing of money to surely follow
As we type, the world's crazy time differences mean that Wii Fit has been available in Japan for, ooh, a few hours at least.
How will it fare? We don't know for sure, and as our closest friend isn't a De Lorean-owning, wavy-haired scientist, the best we can offer is a guess. That said, the 300,000 preorders reportedly taken by Japanese retailers prior to the game's release tell us that Nintendo has probably just conjured up another mass appeal mega-hit. If all of those preorders are honored, that would also make Wii Fit a bigger opening week success than a certain other title, but we won't dwell on that, as it's proven a touchy subject recently.
Check back with us next week for the full lowdown on precisely how many Japanese people are precariously poised on their Balance Boards.

wii fit sounds interesting. since capcom and tony hawk have expressed interest in it. but i do agree with dires a tad bit. since it's more then a wiimote. but then again people are paying 60 bucks for guitars for guitar hero(includging me) and rock band for plastic mics and drums etc. but it's a wait and see. i think it's out in america in feb late jan. I'm waiting to see what people say about the balance board. Still i'd rather see a hard-drive or sd card support. but if the Japanese like it then preherps Americans will catch on early next year.

So wait... Nintendo made over 300,000 balance boards for opening week right?

I picked up a copy, only 8800 yen, about 88 Australian dollars!
Unreal!
Game is very fun, some of the exercises are very challenging.
The only problem so far is the balance board is not as wide as I would like it to be (however I am 197 cm tall) so this should not be a problem for most people.
Will print cash for sure

Hey what where the first day sales of Mario Galaxy? wasn't it like 150-160K? What?
This is about twice that! What madness is that? I know that mario picked up a little, but still that's significant. May have to watch this situation...

My mom said Wii Fit looks retarded, and I agree with her. And no, she isn't fat, she's 5'2 and 107 lbs. I most likely won't pick this up when it comes out. Besides, it's aimed at people like my mom and she thinks it is dumb. She told me she would rather play a DDR game, and she also likes Wii Sports. I agree that Wii Fit is ridiculous =P

"But, my mom says I'm cool!"

i have the wii-board with wii-fit as i live in Japan. My wife and I are using it like crazy already. It is awesome. i can't wait for a real snowboard game for it!!!
gogetaxl @ Dec 3rd 2007 7:16AM
Figures decent Wii games don't sell (like Metroid Prime 3) yet this non-gamer garbage sells. What a gimmick. Its like DDR all over again.
