Godzilla: Unleashed takes a double crap on the DS
We're not surprised to hear that Godzilla: Unleashed Double Smash was developed by Santa Cruz Games, the same studio behind Superman Returns: The Videogame; we probably would have been more surprised if the developer wasn't Santa Cruz Games. The Wii version of this multiplatform release doesn't look too pretty either, but the DS game seems like a complete afterthought.
It's not just the deformed "style" we've found displeasing -- it's the blandly repeating, Flintstones-esque landscape, uninspired enemies and power-ups, and Mothra's insipid combo chain. What were they thinking with that combo chain?! Baby Godzilla is surely crying right now. Won't someone please think of Baby Godzilla?!

Oh, please. Don't insult us basement coders. We could do a better job than that.

He's right you know.

That's....that's it? I'm always curious at how much actual time goes into stuff like this.

What are the planes on the top screen shooting at? What are the big yellow diamonds? I hate this.

A few days ago, you asked 'what would be the worst Christmas gift'? I change my answer. This, this would be worse than what I originally prescribed. Harlem Globetrotters: World Tour at least looks better than what-ever-the-hell-that-is. O_O''

Worst? You are aware that Jenga is a game on DS too?

That's actually quite decent compared to anything Barking Lizards develops.
jakfoood @ Nov 29th 2007 12:59AM
Looks like decent homebrew or a lame flash game.

Yea what is this 1985!? Hell I seen games in 1985 better than this piece of crap, wtf were they thinking. I mean what goes through the mind of these developers when they make a game like this? Do they not know what is fun? Also, the top screen is pointless. And yes I tried Superman Returns, which should have been renamed to Superman Returns 64, that too was horrible. Lucky for me I played those on my R4 so all I wasted was some download time...
David Kearns @ Dec 9th 2007 4:57PM
Wow. I'm stunned.
I would have thought this sucked if I was playing it on Vic 20 over 20 years ago, but to think this is a current release...
Isn't Nintendo supposed to protect us from crap like this?
ScoTT @ Dec 9th 2007 6:36PM
wow!! this game looks awesome!!!! i can't wait to get a copy!! just look at the almost real-life graphics, the diverse array of enemies, the great and original gameplay, the variety of intense action, the challenge of beating it, and everything totally makes sense!!
ScoTT @ Dec 9th 2007 6:37PM
Note: That was sarcasm.
Mr.Nitemare @ Dec 10th 2007 2:51AM
I swear this has got to be the first game that will receive negative marks on its review, i'd say at least a -3
