Everybody's Nintendo Channel available in Japan to sate hungry DS systems
The latest Wii channel popped up in Japan tonight without warning, ready to serve videos and demos. The Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everybody's Nintendo Channel) is the DS demo channel we've heard about, but also includes Wii videos, releases lists (uh-oh!) and the capability to recommend games you own to Wii friends. These recommendations are also collected en masse to be tabulated in December.
The channel currently offers just a few DS downloads, including demos of some training games and a patch for the Japanese version of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The demos stream from Nintendo rather than being saved, and are accessed on the DS via Download Play. The video section offers trailers and commercials for new and recent games, including Wii Fit. According to NeoGAF's john tv, the videos keep playing in a corner if you exit the video menu. Check NeoGAF for frequently-updated impressions from the international gadflies who post there. Really, it sounds like the current content is less enthralling than the promise of future content.

So...by the end of the year for the US? December 3rd maybe, to help ease the pain of no Smash Bros?
Shadow31 @ Nov 27th 2007 1:32AM
Please tell me I read that correctly. Wii demos? Not gameplay videos, but playable demos? That would be amazing, considering I want a Brawl demo so badly, but... can they really do that? Will they really do that? I can't read Japanese, so please tell me where this is based off of...?

Jaja there’s a ton of DS titles that I want to try, I never buy a title with out trying it fist, except if everyone is giving great reviews like Mario Galaxy.
Also I agree with Shadow31 about if there are going to be actual Wii demos with videos or videos only.
Because if it’s a videos only they better just put a youtube link so it wont happen like the metroid channel that I couldn’t see most of the videos because it was really slow.

I was in front of my Wii when it started flashing this afternoon, and downloaded the new channel immediately.
Unfortunately, no Wii demos. Only gameplay videos.
Actually, I'm fine with that, especially if they start adding gameplay videos for the VC as well.
However, there are DS demos, downloaded in the same way that we have always downloaded DS demos at kioks located at stores, etc. (You guys have that in other countries, too, right?)

You did in fact read it correctly, but I wrote it wrong. ...I was in a hurry.
Shadow31 @ Nov 27th 2007 10:55AM
Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to speak then, I already told a couple friends it had Wii demos, haha. Really sucks though, that got me excited, DS demos are okay, but what I really want is me some Wii demos. :( And both in one channel would've been heaven... hm, anybody think any chance we'll see Wii demos pop up on this channel later? Here's hoping...

They should allow your ds to download firmware for the wii so that you can transfer it to the wii. Because i have no wifi.

Man this sounds like a sweet channel. Can't wait to get my hands on this! I hope it comes out soon. And I hope they surprise us with it. I love that.
Sensai @ Nov 27th 2007 3:33AM
C'mon....Nintendo, Japan DID save the videogame market back in the 80s....but seriously. We're important now too. In fact, running the risk of sounding arrogant, we (North America) make or break the videogame industry.
Disclaimer: I'm not an arrogant Yank, I'm just an observer.
ssuk @ Nov 27th 2007 6:38AM
You're right, they do break the industry with their countless crappy games. America is quite the bane of the video game industry, especially for us PAL region'ers who get your watered-down crap when we should be getting better.
Adv2k1 @ Nov 27th 2007 3:41AM
Seriously Sensai your right because Japan more than ever is becoming Niche Market and only Japanese games like RPGs, Insane games, and Casual games sell. The rest of the world Halo 3 is a big release for them they don't have the 'room for a such a massive xbox 360 and 1st person shooters make japanese people confused'. I want this channel by the end of the week damn it
Charles @ Nov 27th 2007 7:28AM
Who cares, just let it come soon, any demo is good :D!
GrapenutsRobot @ Nov 27th 2007 9:45AM
This really needs to be in the U.S.
BrandonIT @ Nov 27th 2007 8:43AM
This is very good news indeed! I'll be glad to see more gameplay videos for the Wii. With so much garbage out there, I'd like as much information as possible.
But the true delight is the DS download functionality. Finally I can quit lugging my DS out to GameStop and Wal-Mart to download new demos.
Yes, this is very good news indeed and here's hoping North America sees it very soon.
Nate @ Nov 27th 2007 9:51AM
You say lugging your DS as though it weighs a ton. I carry mine almost every day. I have 3 more levels on Yoshi's Island DS, and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga to finish.
Mr Khan @ Nov 27th 2007 5:18PM
As i said on Joystiq, this kind of channel is the replacement for them dropping publishing of Nintendo Power
Which is, of course, awesome
motang @ Nov 27th 2007 8:16PM
This seriously needs to come out in the US...hopefully soon! :-D
Zan @ Dec 1st 2007 6:24AM
I WANT WII DEMOS >=(
I don't even have a DS.
