The Wii may be the most socially-focused console ever made. Everything about it, from the personal avatars to the physical aspect of play to (especially) the pack-in game seems designed to get people partying. Certainly we've all heard about the
rise of the
"Wii Party" (not a political organization). Even
Evite has
gotten in on the Wii phenomenon, offering Wii-focused
party invitations.
In the
past year, have you found yourself hosting and attending more parties? Has the Wii influenced your social life? Has your formerly lonely nerd cave become a hub for
Wii Sports parties? Or were you waiting for the
Party Station to liven up your party room?

I know that my social life has improved. I go to a small college where it isn't uncommon to leave your room door open for any guests to come right in. I remember the first time someone came in simply because of the wii was when I was playing Wii Sports. they now just come in to watch (in the case of guitar hero or transformers) or to join in. I love it

Yeah... I'm a lot more friendlier now... a lot less "hermit" more "hermit that talks to some people"... :P

Surprisingly the 360 is better for socializing cause the online play is just superior. When I have people over though, it is Wii all the time.

I don't enjoy socializing with other people just for the sake of doing so. If anything, the Wii has reduced my social activity because I've been preferring to play it over seeing other people. Obviously, most of the games I play are single player.
However, I did convince a friend of mine to get a Wii for Trauma Center. I've also played Tanks on Wii Play for hours and hours with my Dad who eventually got his own Wii for Twilight Princess and to play some games with my sister (he has his own GameCube but he stopped using it after he beat Star Fox Adventures and Wind Waker). So..., I talk with some of friends about the Wii occasionally but I don't play it with many people because I'd much rather stay home and play games on it myself. :P

Same as with the person above this post.
Socializing, what???
I got the Wii for the experimental games, not for more socializing. Getting my parents to play a bit was just a side effect that wore of after some time.
Also, I agree that the 360 is the better way to get in contact with others. I don't have one, but people at the game stores I visit always talk about their 360 and how they met player A at nightclub B etc.

Kind of the reverse
Wii has more good games than GC (either that or I am simply more aware of them this time around), and gives me less time to be with friends or whatever
Super Mario Galaxy, Wrecking Crew, and Radiant Dawn, all this week
What would you have time for?
padgon @ Nov 22nd 2007 11:35PM
Jajaja, me to I haven’t become more social.
