Wii is the most wanted widget of all time
With Black Friday just around the corner, you're likely doing some last minute sharpening of all your swords and battle testing your armor against your little brother. It's going to be crazy out there as you try to procure a Wii for your loved one or, even worse, yourself. We feel for you. But, odds aren't looking that good. Considering that the Wii was the gift to have last year, as well, this year isn't looking any better. Retailers are having trouble keeping the console on shelves and Nintendo is having trouble making enough for those shelves. It's a unique situation, in that popular holiday gifts often change from year to year, but the Wii looks like it has the staying power.
What's your plan of action for procuring a Wii this holiday season? Do you have any friends or family trying to get their hands on one?

Only one member of our extended family that would have a Wii does not (the other household consists of one elderly member who doesn't even have cable out of not wanting it and probably wouldn't get one on their own). I am grateful I got mine on launch day, which as somebody said is still probably the day you were most likely to have gotten one to date.

do you mean gadget??

yeah um, widget isn't quite the word I'd use here, a widget is more of a small useless tool.

That's a lot of apostrophes. ._.
Yay for Black Firday.

lol, I think we're cleaned out at toys r us. Hardly anyone is buying a PS3.
Ren @ Nov 21st 2007 3:50PM
and to clarify, no I'm not trying to be inflammatory. Seriously, someone buy a PS3 from us. Only like one or two get sold in a month. Here's hoping black friday (corporate wants me to call it Green Friday, but thats stupid.) will be good to all the systems out there.

Just got my Wii as an in-law works at Toys R' Us and was able to notify me when a shipment came in. Unfortunately, the wife won't let me open it until Christmas. :(

The superfluous apostrophes make me ill
Archibold @ Nov 21st 2007 6:10PM
I was going to comment on the apostrophes...
I guess I still am.
They annoy me.

Darn...I'm still trying to find one...=(

@Ren
PS3 has outsold Wii in Japan for the past 2 weeks, and outsold 360 last week, and is poised to outsell it this week. I know the Wii sales like hot cakes, but PS3 sales have gone up.....significantly. 119k in all of September.....over 400k in two weeks this month

well, since there are apsolutely no Wii's avaliable to buy in the UK (and I aint talking about eBay. I watched one sell for £650 yesterday, and that didnt include anything else) I would get one from Amazon.... as in Amazon.fr or Amazon.de, but I dont speak german or french, so I cant be sure they are deffinatly in stock
No, I have decided to be sensible. Im flying to Holland.

my walmart just got 24 Wii's in on one truck. we get at least a case every week. sometimes they are on the shelf so long the customers are buying 2 or 3 at a time. I just haven't seen the Wii shortage yet. but oh well.... at least walmart is having a decent sale on Black Friday (Blitz Day as we call it) for buying a 80gb PS3 you can choose ANY (don't have to choose from select titles) 10 Blu-Ray movies off the shelf for free. at $30 a pop thats $300 in free movies! damn! too bad i do in fact work at Walmart so I don't make enough money for one. Oh yeah and there's always the fact that I would have to find a game that doesn't suck to play on it.
