Have you noticed our new comment system?

You may have also noticed that there are some issues with the new system. Hey, it's new; these things have been known to happen. But we're here to help, with a handy guide to getting your profile all set up, so that you can personalize your comments and prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet (with our deepest apologies to T. S. Eliot there).
If you've fiddled around with things, or if you've been commenting on Joystiq, then you've probably figured out that a) you have a profile, and b) you can get into it. If not, this should help:

All you have to do is click your name or your avatar. If you haven't commented on Joystiq, you probably have the default avater, Mr. Question Mark Dude. If you have, you probably have some sort of Mario-themed avatar already (unless you're a rebel). That also means that you have your password and are good to go, so why are you still reading this? Oh well, it's cool -- you can stay.
If, however, you are cursed with Mr. Question Mark Dude, get to clicking and visit your profile, which should look something like what's here in the image at the right. The problem is that you can't log in if you don't have a password, and the system seems really stingy about sending those out. In the meantime, while our crack team of developers work on the issue, you can go comment on Joystiq, and the system will then send you your password if you don't already have one.
So if you want to have a nifty setup catered to your specifications, all you have to do is:
1. Comment on Joystiq.
2. Retrieve password.
3. Log into your profile.
4. Photoshop your Mario avatar of choice ... er, choose an avatar and upload. Make other changes, such as name, as desired. You can also check out your old comments, as well as your commenting stats across blogs. Neat!
5. Live the customized dream. It's just that easy.
We do apologize for the wackiness and necessity of commenting on Joystiq to get your password, but we hope that issue will be fixed soon. Feel free to let us know what you think of the new system otherwise, including the comment voting. We hope you enjoy it!

It looks very neat and the peer-moderation is also a very good idea.. However, most of the comments made here on ds fanboy are pretty good.. ^_^
Donald @ Nov 21st 2007 5:08PM
I'm such a nerd I've noticed the font in the comment box (where you type it) and the e-mail fields have changed.
Also, does anyone have a picture of a shiny Shaymin (Pokemon #492) that DOESN'T look like ass?
ssuk @ Nov 21st 2007 6:05PM
Have you tried... I dunno... CROPPING the image? MS Paint (or the nearest equivalent on whatever OS you're running) can do that in a couple of seconds.
elend @ Nov 21st 2007 5:11PM
Ahhh, looks much better now! Thanks!
Ants @ Nov 21st 2007 5:14PM

Goldilocks @ Nov 21st 2007 5:40PM
Heck yes! Thanks for the super cool upgrades!
ELIJAH the ChaosDragon @ Nov 21st 2007 5:41PM
The commenting is great, I love it. But not to be rude i have to ask about wiifanboy's future transformation.
Joshua @ Nov 21st 2007 5:57PM

Roll this out for Wii Fanboy, too!
ssuk @ Nov 21st 2007 6:03PM
I actually like that according to BlogSmith, my account doesn't have a profile and I cannot create one. =) But yeah, I actually did make a post in another blog-post a few hours ago commenting about how cool the new comment system is. It's prettier than Joystiq's imo.
ArashiUzumaki @ Nov 21st 2007 6:04PM

Brello @ Nov 21st 2007 6:06PM
Ah yes, my timesplitter monkey from Joystiq is finally visible here. Hurrah! The reply feature is greatly appreciated as well!
troy @ Nov 21st 2007 6:16PM
I enjoy this system and look forward to its implementation on Wiifanboy
ArashiUzumaki @ Nov 21st 2007 6:19PM
mm, nice!
buttt.. is there any way of getting a password confirmation sent to you or summin? i can't sign in as it's saved to my internet and i can't remember it :\
..helpp?
Alisha Karabinus @ Nov 21st 2007 6:43PM
Try commenting on Joystiq as a new user with the same e-mail address you used before. I believe it recognizes your e-mail and sends your old password (at least, it used to). Otherwise, it'll send you a new one and you'll have a new profile. Either way, so long as you're not signed in, it should work.
ELIJAH the KING CHAOSDRAGON @ Nov 21st 2007 6:25PM
@DONALD; HTTP://Seribii.net , should have a listing of pokemon and the shinies also.
ELIJAH the KING CHAOSDRAGON @ Nov 21st 2007 6:29PM
@DONALD: Sorry, wrong site my bad heres the right one. HTTP://Serebii.net
Blue_Falcon @ Nov 21st 2007 7:08PM
Excellent.
RupeeClock @ Nov 21st 2007 7:23PM
Niiice, very nice!
This'll make commenting a bit easier, now that I've set my password, kudos!
iofthestorm @ Nov 21st 2007 7:39PM
Cool, this looks nice but for some reason I feel like there's too much whitespace. I was just going to ask when you guys are going to get this comment system too.
IronMaidenFan @ Nov 21st 2007 9:53PM
Well, that's cool I guess. Not a really big deal for me though
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Nov 21st 2007 9:24PM
Would I get to keep my custom Luigi picture?
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Nov 21st 2007 9:24PM
Yes, yes I would.
CJC @ Nov 21st 2007 10:09PM
Pretty classy, as far as comment systems go.
hvnlysoldr @ Nov 21st 2007 10:18PM
Spread the Mario avatar world. A Mario hat on question mark might work. I'll get on it soon enough.
likedonduan @ Nov 21st 2007 10:40PM
Aw, neat indeed!
Kree @ Nov 22nd 2007 12:33AM
I've got to say, I'm not digging the tiny avatar size. 64x64 like at Joystiq is much easier on the eyes.
Maya @ Nov 22nd 2007 4:00AM
Wow, this is neat :) however, I had to post a second comment on Joystiq to have my password sent.
Charles @ Nov 22nd 2007 9:57AM
Awesome, I wanna log in and change my password, the default one is too hard to remember...
roosgoff @ Nov 22nd 2007 3:46PM
right, thanks!
i'll try it right now..
Chase @ Nov 22nd 2007 4:56PM
As a regular commentator, I just wanted to say: thanks for the upgrade. It looks fantastic. ^_^
DSgirl @ Nov 22nd 2007 5:28PM
Hmmm let's see if this works...
Mooga @ Nov 23rd 2007 7:35AM
Sweet!
Triforce Eagle @ Nov 26th 2007 4:07PM
Please work this time XD
knocturnal @ Nov 27th 2007 7:16PM
Finally, took them long enough to implement this.
Evan @ Dec 14th 2007 8:17AM
Testing, testing. Is this thing on?
zombieglam @ Dec 23rd 2007 10:43AM
:) nice!
sherryfriedrichs @ Dec 24th 2007 10:03PM
wow sure wish I'd have read this earlier, although I knew my PW, just wanted to see what else was there...
