Rumor: Wii to suffer like G did
The Wii's status as the home of light gun games is totally cemented, if this incredible rumor is true. According to NeoGAFfer King Zell and a mysterious Sega Europe PR statement that we can't verify, The House of the Dead 2 & 3 have been announced for the Wii as a single-disc collection.
What makes this rumor more plausible is a Gamefly listing for The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. Gamefly tends to be right about these unannounced games! If this is true, we will absolutely buy The House of the Dead 2 again, with III (which saw a home release on the Xbox) as a bonus.
Psst, Sega ... if you do get House of the Dead 2 running on the Wii: may we remind you that the Wii supports USB keyboards?

maduin @ Nov 15th 2007 4:00PM
Add USB keyboard support and a Typing of the Dead option and I'm sold, otherwise, no thanks.

Man, I remember pumping so many quarters into these arcade games. I'd definitely find a way to get this if released.

Seems Joystiq has confirmed that this is a real game. They contacted Sega, who said they will make an official announcement later. This is great because I really want a GOOD port of these games that can be played with a GOOD lightgun/lightgun-like device. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/house-of-the-dead-2-and-3-wii-vived-in-early-08/

Oh ho ho! This rumour is delicious indeed. There should be a LOT of guncon ports, they're the only really acceptable ports for the Wii, Arcade guncon to Wii.

1st: Best. Headline. EVER. lmao
2nd: HELL YES to HotD 2&3 on the Wii. I love me me some gun games, and with Umbrella Chronicles and Ghost Squad on the way, this is a very welcome addition.
3rd: Typing of the Dead is quite simply the BEST edutainment title to ever come out, and the only reason I still have my Dreamcast hooked up to my TV. I would give one of my livers to have this one the Wii. (I can get by with one.)

Blew 20 dollars on it on a carnival cruise.
Couldn't get more than that per day without parental approval, and my dad is a jack thompson fan.

I've been wanting for Typing of the Dead since the moment they announced keyboard support. Seriously, go look.

I think that would be the greatest compilation ever if they included Typing of the Dead.
Otherwise, it still looks pretty cool and I hope it is fun to play. I really hope the Wii turns out to be good for lightgun games because there is so much potential there.
Chyld989 @ Nov 16th 2007 12:04AM
I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone else that this should also include Typing of the Dead...it's the game that keeps making me buy a new Dreamcast everytime my old one breaks (I'm on number 5 now, yay!).
harknell @ Nov 16th 2007 8:26AM
Why don't they ever include HOTD 1????? I love that version also and it was only released for the Saturn and a crappy PC port.
ZombieOrgasm @ Nov 16th 2007 5:34PM
@14
Sega is lazy is the main reason. Back when HOTD 2 was being ported to Dreamcast they were in fact working on an unlockable port of HOTD 1 in the Dreamcast version.
It had so many glitches, and they wanted to have HOTD 2 out near Dreamcast's release date, they scrapped it.
I'm a HUGE House of the Dead fan and owned the shitty Sega Saturn port. I really wish they would give HOTD 1 the port it deserves, but with this annoucement it just seems like it's never going to happen.
