While we've seen some skins that we like from time to time, it's hard for us to fathom slapping something that isn't a screen protector onto the sleek shape of the DS Lite. The Phat model, maybe. But that's just one opinion. Today, we want yours. Would you consider skinning your DS? Never? Maybe? Let's compare notes.
I think the problem s nearly all skins look really tacky and end up making the system look like some sort of cheap knock off. Like the above picture; the outside actually looks ok but the inside looks tacky, dunno how it looks in real life though so that another thing, may look kinda cool on an enhanced photo but for real may look rubbish.
My DS phat is for games, not cosmetics, especially seeing as the case is pretty banged up. ( deep gouges in the plastic, corners have no paint, etc, etc...)
Ive never thought of portables as something to decorate as a show piece, purely utilitarian in my opinion.
But hey, I'm just some guy and other people's opinion differs from mine. So whateva
The clear "plastic layer over white", or "polar white" DS Lite is the most eyecatching design for a portable device I have ever seen. I wouldn't want to put a cheap sticker over it.
Not only do I think the NDS (Black Lite for me) is nice looking enough, I wouldn't spend any money on a skin, even if it did look nicer. Form follows function in my book.
My girlfriend has a pink argyle skin on her white DS Lite and she loves it. I thought about getting a skin, but ehhh. I'm pretty happy with mine as is. I don't even have the will to put a sticker on for fear that I'll dislike it later on and ruin the poor guy.
I'd skin mine if there were any cool zombie ones =P or some other cool design but most tend to be way to generic that the solid color of the ds looks way better.
I definitely prefer silicon gloves or hard shell "cases" to dress up my DS. Plus, if you are in the mood for a certain color or feel, you can just swap it out, whereas decals are more one time only.

My DS Lite looks really good as-is; I've put off even getting a hard case because I like it so much. I'm just really careful with it.
If I had a phat though, I'd probably skin it.

I wouldn't touch my Red/Black DSLite, but as I've proven, I'm not afraid of painting my consoles....
I've been eyeing my Wii for a few months, I think its about time I made it special :P

Niz is right, skins make it look cheap.

@6 Having to look at that horribly distracting skin while doing anything on the screen would seriously annoy me to no end.

The only skins worth getting are the ones from DecalGirl, in my experience. Others leave a sticky residue that is just horrific to remove.
But as others have said, I wouldst die prior to defacing my white DS Lite.

Mine's got a penguin sticker on it...
