Wii ain't afraid of no ghosts
Over a year ago, a British magazine compiled what seemed like a joking list of great possible ideas for Wii games -- and one of those is about to become a reality. Not long after a rumor surfaced of a beloved 80s franchise getting remade in gaming form, Game Informer revealed their December cover today, along with the meat behind that rumor: Ghostbusters is returning! And not in the typical lame, useless fashion we usually see with movie-based games, either; the game, which will be multi-platform, is being written by Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd as a follow-up to Ghostbusters I and II. They'll also be lending their voices to the production. We can't wait to hear more about this one, but for now, we're just going to hope desperately that some tender lovin' care goes into the Wii version, because it could be awesome with motion controls.

There truly is a God. I loved the ghostbusters series.

I've been hoping for a Ghostbusters game since they announced the Wii. I can't believe it's actually happening! Ghostbusters is my absolute favorite movie of all time! That Surfer Girl person was spot on the money about this a few days ago, too (I know this because I asked her!)
I just hope they're still planning on making a Ghostbusters 3 movie, too.
Also, that is the best. cover. ever.

HELL FUCKING YES.

Woo! Nintendo and Ghostbusters combine to make the best possible gaming experienced, and seeing that it is written by Ackroyd, Ramis, AND MURRAY (Who thought the franchise was BS for the last 15 years at least) is some AWESOME news, and to know they are voicing it and treating it like the follow up to the movies is THE BEST POSSIBLE TREAT!

erase the d.

Harold Ramis rocks at directing the Office too.
MechaDEVO @ Nov 14th 2007 4:55PM
Sweet zombie Jesus! AWESOME!
But you know somebody will make a proton pack or at least a particle thrower peripheral. They should also have an adapter to make the original NES Advantage work with Wii and you can control statues. You know you'd buy it all.
JKAntwon @ Nov 14th 2007 4:58PM
This would be an awesome game for the Zapper!
Mr Khan @ Nov 14th 2007 5:00PM
I am more amazed that they got those originally involved in those awesome movies involved in this game
Now it remains to find out whether the game too will be awesome
NinKenDo @ Nov 14th 2007 6:02PM
The Wii has the perfect control scheme for a game like this. You obviously have the remote for the proton beam, but also the nun chuck as the trap which you can toss out and tap the Z button at just the right moment. This also really needs a well done multiplayer element, because the mechanics of teamwork while catching ghosts would be amazing... just don't cross the streams.

This rocks so hard! I was begging for a sequel movie and then they give me a sequel GAME! That's like at least twice as awesome!
HawthorneKitty @ Nov 14th 2007 6:35PM
I pleased to hear this, I can't wait to get my hands on this game! >

"Ray, when a chick asks if you're a god, YOU SAY YES!"
Drahken @ Nov 14th 2007 8:24PM
And then the clouds opened up and a heavenly choir began to sing. And lo, god said,
"Let there be a Ghostbusters 3."
And I died happy.
But seriously: d00000000000d! I'd heard that they were considering doing an animated Ghostbusters 3, but this is much better. And I have one more thing to say:
"Bustin' makes me feel good."
(And I can prove it. Check this out. It was one of my senior pictures, and the one that went into my high school year book.)
GumbyX84 @ Nov 14th 2007 8:29PM
^ Got the line wrong. Looked it up to be sure. Its "when someone asks if you are a god, YOU SAY YES!!"
Not my favorite line.
Peter: "All right! This chick is TOAST!"
[Teams walks forward]
Peter: "Grab your sticks."
[Teams pulls out proton throwers]
Rest: "HOLDIN'!"
Peter: "Heat 'um up!"
[Teams power up Proton Packs]
Rest: "SMOKIN'!"
Peter: "Make 'em hard!"
Rest: "READY!"
Peter: "Let's show this prehistoric **tch how we do things downtown. THROW IT!!"
I am SOOOOO happy this is actually happening. If they actually get it right. OH if they get it right I will be a very, VERY happy Ghostbusters fan!!
Drahken @ Nov 14th 2007 8:29PM

Elebits is a bit like shooting a proton pack.
Daran @ Nov 15th 2007 12:01AM
I remember about a year and a half ago another company was actually developing a ghost busters game for 360 I think it was?
But they had to stop development due to not having rights to the IP, maybe this is it?
mark richardson @ Nov 15th 2007 4:12AM
truely there is a god!!!
GumbyX84 @ Nov 15th 2007 7:03AM
That tech demo was from zootfly. Supposedly, from what they say on the intertubes, this newly announced game is NOT being made by them. We will have to wait another week or so till Game Informer comes out to see.
4sakenaiden @ Nov 15th 2007 9:34AM
the fact GameInformer made it their cover gives me a great amount of hope this project wont be dumped off
HOORAY!!!

Sadly i have seen some screenshots and images of how the GB game will be on the Wii, and as i told the guys at RedFly,"It feels like us Wii owners are getting the short end of the stick"
I would not mind the cartoony look if it was more familure of a GB IP, but it is not familure at all and very odd to look at.
Rather then go with a familure look like say... The Real Ghostbusters which everyone still remembers, they are going with a look that is not very familure or enjoyable to anyone.
I am both a hardcore gamer a Wii fan and a hardcore GB fan.
And i am very dissapointed so far with how the Wii version is being handled.
Shame on you redfly for ruining this.
Im getting the PC version since thats the only other thing i own.
