The most interesting Wiimote grip shell ever

The person selling this Wiimote controller grip on eBay claims it's an unreleased development model. We've certainly never seen this exact model before. GameSniped agrees, and they're fairly savvy about neat rare game stuff. With no brand marking, we're having a hard time searching for it to see if anything matching this shape made it to the market. It's a bit nicer-looking than some other grips we've seen, owing mostly to its similarity to the quite comfortable Dual Shock.

Who made this? Why didn't it get released? Why does it have fake, nonfunctioning Dual Shock shoulder buttons? The controller grip is shrouded in mystery.

I've never understood why people think dualshock controllers are comfortable. They're so blocky and angular.

You know, I think that some packaging of dualshock controllers has the controller shape molded on the outside plastic, like a mold. Anyone think this is plausible?

It looks like the left shoulder button is meant to trigger the wiimote's B button. One presumes the right shoulder is included for symmetry.

I really don't think the Dualshock is comfortable. Plus I've never liked the placement of the left joystick. It feels unnatural.

I have to agree with 3 on the left shoulder button. The only use I see that you could get out of this is games that use the Wii remote on it's side or VC titles (which we have classic for VC).

That's pretty much what the PS4's controller is going to look like, except it'll have analog sticks on the shell, too. I'll bet they'll make a Wiimote like device that plugs into the shell and activates all the other buttons.

Personally, I think it'd be a really smart idea of Nintendo, Sony or MS made a controller like that.

My favorite controller is the GameCube controller. Much more comfortable than the DualShock.

The second-most comfortable controller I've ever used was the original Xbox controller, affectionally referred to as "The Duke". I have large hands, and that controller was made for those like myself.

Third place goes to the original Logitech Wireless PS2 controller. Was much larger than the current version.

Of course, nothing compares to the Wii Remote + Nunchuk. Not having to have both hands cramped together = all kinds of sweetness.

I think its got a lot to do with a lot of noobs growing up exclusively on the playstation brand. I didnt get why people hated the dual shock for ages, then i got a dreamcast and began to see why its not that hot. Once i got my 360 i couldnt go back to dual shock, it feels SO cheap and tiny- and i dont even have very big hands :s

I actually like the set up of the classic controller. It works with everything since of the button placement. The only issue I have with the controller is that after playing Sin & Punishment for a few hours, my hands go numb.

To each his own. I have never used a better feeling controller than the Dualshock. Except maybe the Wiimote... but the Wiimote is in a niche, meaning it's not great for everything.

Hate the 360 controller though, it's bulky, heavy, and the left stick is in the wrong place. I don't like how one of my thumbs is at a different angle than the other.
