I would say my fav mario area of all time is the star path from the Yoshi game.. fine times each of those levels
BluClouds7 @ Nov 12th 2007 9:50AM
my favorite level is the rainbow ride level from sm64 cause the wall jumping kicks ass.
Mike @ Nov 12th 2007 9:53AM
My favorite stage in Super Mario world 2 is 3-1
lostvader @ Nov 12th 2007 9:52AM
My favorite levels are the Star Road levels from Super Mario World.
Tom @ Nov 12th 2007 9:53AM
I'm old school. I think my favorite level of all time would be the first level in Super Mario Brothers 1. It's nostalgic from the time period of when I was first playing video games. It isn't challenging, but just the fact that it was the first level in the first game of the series makes it that much more important.
Daniel @ Nov 12th 2007 9:56AM
My favorite of all time is probably the first level, the one to the right side of the screen in Super Mario World for Super NES.
Quite possibly the most played level in all of Mario history considering you could run through it and get all those extra men, and while tedious it's REALLY fun!!!
Mike @ Nov 12th 2007 9:55AM
The big world (Level 4 I believe) in Super Mario 3 was always my favorite. I thought it was so unique the first time I played that level. Who wouldn't have fun smashing massive gombas?!?
My second favorite level I think was the haunted (underwater) airship from Super Mario World. I was kinda creepy, in a Super Mario kind of way, to be in a haunted sunken airship and think to yourself 'I've been here before back when these ships were in commission and terrorizing the Mushroom Kingdom!'
Eric @ Nov 12th 2007 9:56AM
Super Mario 64 - tick tock clock - though as nails, but fair.
Cyber-Tyrant @ Nov 12th 2007 9:57AM
There was one world in SM64 were you rode on a stone bird while collecting the red coins. And another interesting one was the grandfather clock where the speed of the world depends on the 'time' you enter the clock world...
McHoffa @ Nov 12th 2007 9:58AM
I would have to say the best is world 4, level 1 from SMB3. I love that everything is not only HUGE, but pixelated as well, and the blocks break into regular sized blocks when you hit them. I remember the first time I got to that level the day the game was originally released. Amazing stuff back then...
mdisloki @ Nov 12th 2007 2:32PM
Snowman's Land in Super Mario 64. That game still ranks in my top 5.
Tommy @ Nov 12th 2007 10:00AM
Definitely World 4, the first level, from Super Mario Brothers 3. I loved the super-sized-ness of it all.
Antonio @ Nov 12th 2007 10:00AM
My favorite stage would be "Outrageous" from Super Mario World. The stages I enjoy the most are the ones that push the limit of my platforming skills and Outrageous overwhelmingly succeeds at this, with perilous jumps and plenty of deviously placed Bullet Bill cannons. No stage is as satisfying to complete.
dmarsee @ Nov 12th 2007 10:00AM
My favorite level in a Merio Game is the "Underwhere" in Super Paper Mario: Where game characters go when they lose their last life. It is absolutely hilarious!
There were all sorts of jokes about where you'd go if you died there, and the disembodied hands in the river twygz were creepy.
My favorite part is when my 5-year-old son "got" the pun in the name of that level. He was laughing for hours!
hershberger.scott @ Nov 12th 2007 10:03AM
I would say Mario Brothers level 1-2. I remember playing that when I was very little and constantly losing when I hit the double lifts. I still vividly remember the day I found the warp for the first time.
Croove55 @ Nov 12th 2007 10:03AM
Seeing as I was into Super Mario 64 as a kid, it would have to be from that game. I'd say my favorite stage has to be a tie between Big Boo's Haunt (due in no small part to that music!) and Tall Tall Mountain for it's sense of epicness.
Dethjestr13 @ Nov 12th 2007 10:05AM
Super Mario Brothers 8-4 final level.
I loved how you had to go throught the dungeon part in a certain way...it wasn't very hard but I'm glad they nostalgically brought that back into the New Super Mario Brothers for the DS.
vidGuy @ Nov 12th 2007 10:04AM
My favorite has to be "Bomb-omb on the Summit", the first level in Super Mario 64. I must have spent half an hour just wandering around - from the first level, I could tell that Mario had arrived!
Christian @ Nov 12th 2007 10:35PM
Super Mario 3- when you got to "wear" Kuribo's Shoe!
superheroboy @ Nov 12th 2007 10:05AM
My favorite level is Star Hill from Mario RPG. I love all the hidden comments in the form of wishes.
Girricane @ Nov 12th 2007 10:06AM
Favorite level would definitely be in SMB3 where you get the powerup that lets you use the big shoe (I think it's like 5-3 or something). I would warp whistle my way there as fast as possible and play that level over and over again.
buddha_mjs @ Nov 12th 2007 10:09AM
mario cart. rainbow road. i mean come on.
David Thomas @ Nov 12th 2007 11:55AM
Super Mario 64 is my favorite. My favorite level is Peache's castle, it's basically were all the levels to get there occur. It's so big, you get so many coins, and information, it's were you learn the story of what is going on. The hidden areas are awesome. Mario 64 and he Peache's castle level is a shinning example of why I play MArio to this day.
RyGy @ Nov 12th 2007 10:08AM
My favorite level would have to be the intro, hub world (delfino plaza) of super mario sunshine. I know that most people did not like this game that much, but I remember first popping it in and being blown away. I had gotten my first part time job my senior year of high school for the sole reason of buying a gamecube. I hadn't had a system since the ps1 and even though I enjoyed it, I wasn't coming away fully satisfied. I played through many games over those first months after getting my cube, from luigi's mansion, to star wars rogue squadron, and i thought to myself, man nintendo's first party titles are amazing! I always enjoy a great game, as much as the next person, but I can't help feel like we're bombarded with 3rd party knock offs or some lame cross gen over hyped graphics powerhouse with no fun gameplay elements. I had always enjoyed super mario 64 but wasn't that much of a gamer back then. It wasn't until I pre-ordered super mario sunshine, picked it up that summer before college, and played the opening fight with the piranha plant and explored delfino plaza that I realized how much I loved video games, and nintendo video games at that. I knew what I was doing the rest of my summer. I was blown away by how big the plaza was, and would spend hours just stringing triple jumps together around town. I knew from then on that I would always buy the new nintendo system. I pre-ordered galaxy the first chance I could and am steaming with anticipation to pick it up on my lunch break, although I can't play it until I get home from work. These last months of 2007 will be spent on this game entirely, just like the summer of 2002. Thank you nintendo for showing me how amazing a video game can be.
Robert Cliff @ Nov 12th 2007 10:08AM
This is the game I've been dying to play. I've seen all the videoes out for it. My favorite level is the rainbow ride level on Super Mario 64. Very trippy.
jds @ Nov 12th 2007 10:21AM
I'll always remember the opening level of SMB-64. It's a whole new world.
Michael @ Nov 12th 2007 10:13AM
My favorite level is the opening of Super Mario 64, outside the castle. What a strange sensation, to be inhabiting a world rather than scrolling across the screen. No other world-reconfiguring level out there.
Joey Horne @ Nov 12th 2007 10:13AM
My favorite stage is the classic mario 1 stage in Super Paper Mario. It was fun to play through it in semi-3d.
=j= @ Nov 12th 2007 10:23AM
My favorite level is in SMB, is 1-1 at that part where the theres an up and down pyramid separated by a 3 or 4 block gap and a cloud in that gap. Me and my friends would tell my sister and other non-gamers there were super power ups in that cloud, and watch them fall to their deaths time and time again till we all burst out laughing.
Valien @ Nov 12th 2007 10:14AM
Super Mario Bros stage 1-1. It was the beginning of uber goodness for many years to come.
Jason @ Nov 12th 2007 10:16AM
I would say my favorite Super Mario level ever has to be Water Land from Super Mario 3. All Mario fans know that water levels have always been poorly received due to their slower nature. However the addition of the frog suit helps Mario swim extra fast for those terribly slow water levels. I've always wanted frog suit Mario to make a come back, but at least I can play Water Land anytime I want on the Virtual Console!
Shadow31 @ Nov 12th 2007 10:14AM
Super Mario RPG. The Forest Maze. Catchiest song ever, and it was like Mario meets Zelda meets Final Fantasy in one sweet moment of bliss.
Jason Z. @ Nov 12th 2007 9:28PM
Super Mario 3, Level 4-1. My shock as a child in seeing the first giant enemy (Goomba) and the huge blocks, I fell in love with that stage right then. My close second would be the water ship in 8. I accidentally found that you could swim under it and so I always cheated that way since, makes a very hard stage much easier.
Adam @ Nov 12th 2007 10:16AM
SMB1 1-1
Where all video games began for me.
holmes @ Nov 12th 2007 10:19AM
My favorite level is in the third area of Super Mario World for the SNES, when you're riding on the lava and BLARG come up. Blarg is, without a doubt, my favorite Super Mario enemy. Fingers crossed, hope I win!
Tusch @ Nov 12th 2007 10:21AM
Super Mario 3. World 4-1.
It was such a mind trip watching those giant bad guys. But all was well when I found out you could still jump on their heads to kill them....
I miss my childhood.
Wes Dye @ Nov 12th 2007 1:11PM
Yes, world 4-1 from Super Mario Bros. 3 is by far my favorite Mario level ever. Everything is huge! It is a level I can still play it to this day and have a huge smile on my face.
taintedzodiac @ Nov 12th 2007 10:24AM
Definitely has to be World 1, Level 2 from the original SMB. Everyone, even non-gamers, seems to remember how to get to the warp pipes in that level. It's like a gaming mantra.
chad @ Nov 12th 2007 10:25AM
has to be the second level in the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES. I'll always remember going down that pipe for the first time, you come out in the dark underground...koopas and goombas....duh-duh duh-duh duh-duh...classic
Batmyke @ Nov 12th 2007 11:28AM
My favorite level would have to be ANY of the star-road levels from Super Mario World; they were all butt-hard and challenging just to find in the first place!
Tesche @ Nov 12th 2007 10:27AM
There are so many awesome mario levels.....I really like the Toad's Turnpike run in reverse on Mario Kart 64....I really like the oversized level in SM3....I really liked almost all of SM64, I got to agree that SM 1-2 is the probably the mario level I remember most strongly (probably because of the music). This is a rediculous concept to think of.....I'll have to hit the VC for a while before I pick my absolute favorite....
Zack W. @ Nov 12th 2007 10:29AM
Super Mario Bros. 3
The level with the shoe! I made a code with the Game Genie once that would give you the shoe forever.
Ringmaster @ Nov 12th 2007 10:31AM
Mine is the theme park in SMS.
Quaddw @ Nov 12th 2007 10:31AM
SMB 1-1
AstroZombie @ Nov 12th 2007 10:31AM
Hard to pick the best level from the best series of all time, but I'll give it a shot. I've been playing through SM64 in anticipation of SMG, and that level leading up to the final conflict with Bowser is pretty amazing. It's just stripped-down, pure platforming that requires a good bit of skill to get to the top. Really it's just one great level design in a series of great level designs, but it's the first one to come to mind today, so there ya go.
monaco @ Nov 12th 2007 10:32AM
The mario level in SMB where you are approaching bowser's castle and you fight his mobile army... the tanks, flying ships, cannons, and what not. The music was great and you knew you were close to Bowser!
Tirol @ Nov 12th 2007 10:32AM
I would say it would have to Ice World from SMB3. For one thing, you have the awesome hammer suit! That's always a plus. Also, some of the levels are pretty tricky as well.
riley @ Nov 12th 2007 10:33AM
I would have to say the first level of NEW Super Mario Brothers. It pretty much follows the opening level to the original with a new twist. They switched up a few things, and showed off the new super mushrooms that make Mario bigger, just adding that slight difference to the level.
Mark Green @ Nov 12th 2007 10:54AM
I would have to say all of Super Mario Bros. 2 - or simply the "Subcon" World.
Long @ Nov 12th 2007 10:35AM
My favorite level would have to be Gnarly, the first star world level in SMW. The name pretty much describes it best, that and all that spin jumping made it fun.
