Further proof that the Wii is truly a next-gen system:
Wii Ware will bring the nightmare of for-pay downloadable content to Wii games.
Mojipittan, which we were
just being all positive about, will be the first downloadable game to include (or, well,
exclude until you pay for it) extra downloadables, including stages and items. Why
include the stages you've made when you can sell them later?
From there, it's only a matter of time before the slippery slope delivers us straight into unfinished games with content held back for more money, "premium" Mii parts and Wii Menu colors. Welcome to the future! Hope you brought money.

Nothing new. Guitar Hero II content for Xbox Live Marketplace is a well-working example (i.e. buy Guitar Hero I songs that were previously unavailable for Xbox). This "pay for new features" idea isn't new for Nintendo. It could be seen long ago when the Internet Channel was no longer available for free. As honorable as we'd like to think Nintendo is for giving out free content (Everybody Votes Channel), they're in it for the money, too. My only hope is that if they start doing customizable Wii Menus/Backgrounds/Etc., they keep it open for us to play with as well. Doubt it, though.

Well, at least there is no coin slot on the front of the Wii...we will have to wait for the second-gen run hardware updates for that to happen.

I see it as kind of a positive. The game you're talking is coming with over 200 levels already, so I don't think they are skimping on the game at all. Plus, this just further hints to the announcement of a Wii hard drive. Remember how Nintendo kept denying the DS Lite before it was released? I'm pretty sure we'll see the announcement of a hard drive by the launch of Wii Ware in March. They know people want it and they know we will need space to put our games and new content.

What they should do is just let games/ DLC/ VC be run directly off the SD card, it would make the slot actually useful for once.

As sad as this sounds, I hardcore crave more Mii customization. I second the notion that we're one step closer to a Wii hard drive. I don't feel like having to download something every time i want to play it.

I would pay for mii related stuff. I have a mohawk and I haven't been able to make a "real" version of mii because they don't really have one available. Of course, I've gotten creative and it looks ok, but a real one would look much better.

People always complain about the Wii's lack of downloadable content. I think those people are fools.
If you go spend $50 on a delicious steak and french fries at a resturaunt, do you want to get your full order of fries over the cost of year in $5 a fry installments?
I know people that have speant more than $150 on Guitar Hero II, when that level of contest should have cost nearly half that.

It depends, if you think the content should have been included from the start and are willing to sit there waiting with nothing to play until it's done and then paying the full-price for the whole thing, then the steak and fry analogy makes sense.
If, on the other hand, you think of it as ordering a la carte, you want the steak now and don't want to wait for the fries to be ready, and may decide not to get the fries at all depending on how good or bad the steak is, then it makes more sense.
Remember, nobody's being forced to purchase DLC, so if they do so, they obviously see a value to it above and beyond their original game purchase. If that's the case, why on earth shouldn't developers make money above and beyond the original game?
