Kira Kira Pop Princess gets groovy in Europe

The game, which is known as Pinky Street Kira Kira Music Hour in Japan, is slated for a European release in February 2008. The story revolves around a girl named Gaby, who competes in dance-offs in an attempt to become the Rainbow City "Dance Queen." As you've probably guessed by now, these dance-offs are where they stylus tapping and rhythm action take place.
If you can get past the adolescent aura of it all, this game looks pretty fun. Then again, maybe we're just easy-to-please, rhythm-game-loving whores (status: confirmed).

Ah, this one's actually pretty fun, especially if, like me, you are a grown man who enjoys playing dress-up. Brilliantly, some of the items you can win/buy are just 'streetnames', like 'Green Girl'.

Ah, you might want to mention the big selling factor of this game: The Pinky Street logo.
Pinky Street dolls are a series of collectible figurines in Japan that have pop-apart pieces so that you can mix and match hair styles, outfits, faces, etc. Many collectors even paint the figurines and customize them, going so far as to sculpt their own body parts.
This game was, frankly, meant for a niche: Pinky Street collectors.
While it is a rhythm game, it was meant to add a new level of depth to the Pinky Street franchise, and has done just that. There were whole sections of Pinky Street collectors forums dedicated to translating the game and helping other non-Japanese speaking people get through it. (The game has been out for at least a year now in Japan. It might be longer, but to my knowledge, not by much.)
In other words: The original point of the game was to be a dress up game that made you earn clothes via dancing, not a dancing game that let you earn clothes.
Make any sense?
P.S. If you can't tell, I collect Pinky St. Dolls =P And I am ready to wet myself at the news that this game is going to finally be in English.

Another Pinky:st collector (and occasional modder) here...
What Matdredalia said about the original intent of the game is true, though it seems like the translated version of Kira Kira Music Hour will focus less on the Pinky:st tie-in aspect of the game, and more on the game itself. This is kind of a shame (and it probably means no limited-edition package with a special Pinky, like the one released in Japan!).

(Oh, also, I meant that it's a shame that Kira Kira's original Pinky:st focus is being lost in the translation, not that it's being treated as a game in its own right!)
