This guy has Super Mario Galaxy already
Today is the day where we stopped believing in everything good in the world.
As you can see in the above video (which we suggest you avoid if you don't want to see the first 5 minutes or so of the game's opening gameplay segments and cutscenes), the reported pirated version of Super Mario Galaxy that was leaked online is a reality and we now live in a world more dark, cold and evil than we could've possibly imagined. Hopefully, based on this video, Nintendo's pack of lawyers can

Gamestop's now have SUPER MARIO GALAXY to play! I played for about 10 minutes last night in store and it was amazing. Go check it out!

Unfortunately, lots of people have it already, since its been leaked to the internet.

I saw the playable version in Gamestop, but admittedly was after either a copy of Zack and Wiki (which I obtained) or finding either Tales of Symphonia or something similar for the GameCube (which I did not find :( ). My daughter stopped briefly to look at it, but then turned her attention to Guitar Hero 3 for the XBox with a guitar taller than she is. It was interesting to way as she tried to strum with the bar.
As for the leaks on the Internet - they're just going to happen. If you don't have a mod-chip, they're useless, and from the little I've read about burning, generally is just a pain to make a copy. The people who pirate the games are highly unlikely to actually buy them in the first place (lack of money, desire, pirating as a hobby, etc). It looks bad overall, but I think the impact is lower than what most corps would want us to think.
For me, I can be patient - SMG will sell really well if everything I've read/seen turns out to be true. The only reason I bought Z&W was because I really want to encourage more games like that. I know that there will be more games like SMG, Zelda, and Metroid so I can be patient there.
As for the guy above, hope he doesn't show off his early acquisition to the wrong party or tell the wrong person about it.

I think it's a shame that sites such as this and Joystiq show these articles, it only encourages people that might not otherwise think about it, to get their consoles chipped. Promoting piracy which is very sad IMO.

*notices the language* When will software companies learn to not let the Mexicans or French touch the product until a few months after its release? The account for 95 percent of all early leaks that make it online. It always seems its in spanish or french when its out early to torrent.
Anticrawl @ Oct 29th 2007 1:40PM
Atleast there is good news out of this video. Its not all planet hoping on tiny areas.

From what I've seen online the leaked version is NTSC, so this guy is most likely a Canadian, not French. The sole reason for this leak was giving the full version to Gamestop stores to put into demo kiosks. I'm honestly shocked Nintendo would trust a retailer with 1000s of employees who have access to the disc to not copy it. I mean, all it takes is some kid who wants to play it early who's an assistant manager, and then there's a copy floating around on the internet.

First I would like to say that this guy is a freaking moron for posting his video on gametrailers.com. Second the people that pirate this stuff needs to get the snot beat out of them. When people pirate software it only makes it more expensive for the real consumers. Look at the world of music and movies. First we could get a CD or DVD for under $15 but now due to the companies not wanting a drop in profit because of piracy they now charge the real consumers almost a 5 percent increase in price from about 6 years ago.

Though I don't know if the deal is still going on, for those who want to shave off a few bucks buying Mario Galaxy, go to slickdeals.net and search Mario Galaxy in the search bar. There should be a deal with Family Video if you enter the coupon code where you'll get Mario Galaxy for $40 and 99 cents shipping for a total of $41.
I guess saving $10 is useless for some of you, but I'm one of those college kids trying to save every penny possible.

was this leaked online? yes. Are thousands playing it allready? yes.
But, at least nintendo made an effort to stop it all. They added new copy protection to it, however, unfortunatly it was cracked within houres. SO......

That fat kid isn't very smart for posting this.
Phillip @ Oct 29th 2007 4:34PM
That was lame. Like 10 seconds of gameplay.

Longer vid with more gameplay (but with bad video quality and bad commentary) here:

I played mario galaxy in gamestop for a total of about 50 minutes....It's amazing. If you had any doubts, you shouldn't. It's my favorite game so far for wii, here's a little rundown of what I played:
Good Egg galaxy: really fun, has you turning your head to see mario running on the bottem of planets...petey is an interesting Boss for the first mission, and the gravity level (with red and blue arrows) was pretty cool.
Honeybee galaxy(whatever it's called):Basically you get to try out bee mario. It's a nice new way to play, I like the feel of it, and the mandabugs are kind of hard to kill...the mandabug boss is really fun.
Go to gamestop and ask them if you can play it, the first 15-20 minutes are wonderful for trying out the game:)

Dear god he has the same TV as me... I feel dirty now...
Anyways half and half Nintendo should have released a DEMO not a full version as a demo.
This does not excuse the fact that this is wrong but it defiantly could have been avoided.
hype @ Oct 30th 2007 12:24PM
for those who are saying this is fake must be stupid..u do realize that just about every wii, 360, ps2 game is online..it jus happens that this 1 came out earlier than usual...i have a modded wii so i dont have to pay 50 bucks for those horrible games...if u wanna say im cheap well i have a ps3 and a 360 and i happily buy games for those ...so yea im in the process of burning mario galaxy...and to the guy who said i was a pain to burn a game...um how about download extract burn iso...gosh that was hard...wii games are only 4.37gb so whats so difficult about that i dont know...nintendo fanboys are crying nation wide
Zan @ Oct 30th 2007 6:40PM
I have one (yes, one) word for you:
WHATEVER!
Seriously, who cares, that's his problem isn't it? People were still going to donwload the game, this doesn't change anything really. Cause even though some people will pirate this one, most won't (I mean it's the new Super Mario)!
hydro @ Nov 1st 2007 6:29PM
hey hype...you better update your chip first, or have a d2ckey
