Still trying to find a Wii? Try Amazon this week
Have you been sick to your stomach over the last year, hitting up store after store in your region only to be welcomed by such a lazily-made sign such as this, by some employee who is equally sick of seeing your face so often, because all you want is the best gaming console ever created? Well, you've got an honest shot at securing a console from Amazon.com come Wednesday morning, as a PR rep for the company has informed us the online vendor has been stocking up consoles and preparing to fling them out the door with equal the speed at which they arrived.That's right, come this Wednesday at 10am PST (Pacific time, that's 1PM for those of us on the East Coast, so you might want to take an early lunch if you're at work), Amazon.com will be selling the console from their video games section of their website. We can't provide any exact figures as to how many consoles Amazon.com has to sell, but we've been told it's "significant," if that means anything to you.

I work at Target and we had them in our Ad this week. I opened yesterday and by the time I left (an 8-2:30 shift), we had four Wiis left. I was selling them 2 at a time. Only one gut seemed to be in it for ebaying. The Target I work at is in a well to do neighborhood so you might have better luck in, lets say, less desirable locales.

I gave up on Amazon long ago and started searching Craigslist. I got a good package deal on a little-used Wii. I'd recommend the same to any potential Wii buyers out there.

Tho I've had my Wii since April sometime... I did sign up eons ago on amazon.ca to let me know when they had the Wii in stock. I actually forgot all about signing up for this, but got an e-mail on Oct. 25th stating that they were now available for order on amazon.ca.... could supply finally be ramping up?

The way it was explained to me is pretty simple. If the store has the Wii advertised in their ad, they'll have some that week. So on Saturday night, go to Target.com or BestBuy.com and check the ad for your zip code/area. If you see the Wii listed, make plans to be at that store first thing in the morning! I got mine from Best Buy on the first try with this plan.

nope have zero desire for a wii. have friends that have one it sucks and there are only 2 games on it (zelda, metroid) that i like, i dont see a single one in the future that looks good either. all the people i know with one are letting them collect dust unless they have kids that play it.

I saw about 6 wiis on Sunday at the Chula Vista/Natl City Target on Highland ave. Had never seen so many wiis together since I bought mine a year ago. Good Luck

There were no Wiis to be had at either the Albany, OR or Salem, OR Costcos today, but my in-laws found one at Target in Albany, and they had at least one more when we left. So maybe try Target, certainly if you live in Albany.

I bought my second Wii for Christmas this year (the old Wii is downstairs for the kids, the new one will be upstairs for my wife and I). The kids LOVE it (well, the oldest 6 love it, the younger 2 don't play it... yet). The best games so far: Wii Sports, Wii Play, Rayman, and Monkeyball for kids and parties. Zelda and Metroid Prime for single-player action I'm really looking forward to 2008 - Smash Bros in Feb 2008 and Mario Kart in Q1 2008. Now, if you're a geek who loves playing single-player games with great graphics in your parent's basement where you live, the Wii won't be as fun. If you like socializing with actual people in a game setting, then the Wii ROCKS!

Still can't beleive Wii's are hard to find almost a year later. Kinda ridiculous. All the shops down here don't have Wii's in stock, only place is Costco I think. People just stopped checking our Costco because it took them forever to even get a shipment in I suppose, lol. At least I got my Wii on launch.

The Target ad watching works. I got mine this past Sunday that way. And I had been waiting for Circuit City to have them in the add for a while, as I have credit card rewards for $200 there, and have, over the past couple months, seen them in my local Target the day they are in the ad (not first thing, but lunch time). But it is about to be November, so I said, forget it, and went and got it...

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago(actually two, one for my GF's brother too..). I had signed up for Cellphone alerts from http://wiialerts.com based on a forum post on fatwallet. It was very easy actually. It was on sale only for 10 minutes so I could get only 2. I'll probably buy a couple more this time if I can (okay not for eBaying, so don't beat me up.. only for my friends!)

Getting it manana for $257 total (yeah, that's right, basically the cost of the Wii plus tax at a regular retailer AND I get an extra Wiimote...)

Getting my Wii, completely amazing, I walked into Wal-mart one day, had to get some digitals, decided to check out what Wal-Mart had in stock for Wii games, even though I was still looking for a console. I caught the salesperson locking up the game case, after he had just put 4 Wii's in the case. I asked him if he could hold one for me long enough to get to the bank and get enough money to buy it. He was like sorry, I can't do that. So I ran to my car, jumped in drove across town, withdrew $270, got back to Wal-Mart, there was 1 person in line buying a Wii, and there was one left in the case. I got the last one of their shipment that day. I was very lucky to actually get one when I did.
