Europeans to pay double for Zapper this December
Though some would argue that €30 (approximately $43, thanks to the devalued US dollar) isn't much to ask for Nintendo's official Wii Zapper and Link's Crossbow Training, when the same bundle will be selling for less than half that in North America, Nintendo of Europe's price point starts to sound like a rip-off.
But that's how much Europeans can expect to pay if they hope to pick up the Wii Zapper set. According to NintendojoFR, the overpriced accessory ships out this December 8th, just in time to rob you before the holiday season. For those of you in the US and planning to pick it up for $20 this November 19th, would you spend $43 on the bundle?

Gordon @ Oct 26th 2007 3:46PM
What... t3h... Eff.
Bother that nonsense. For 10-15 quid, I'd have snapped it up, and 15 was pushing it. At 20 there's no chance.
Fantus @ Oct 26th 2007 3:52PM
TBH, I was going to get a 2nd plastic holder for Resident evil : UC but for 20 quid. :S
I will just use it without.
DonWii @ Oct 26th 2007 4:25PM
No more than $30 for me.
Nushio (NDF - Blue) @ Oct 26th 2007 4:26PM
I'm not even sure if I'll be getting a first pair, considering costs of Wii stuff in Mexico is about 20% more than in USA, we'll probably be paying around 400 MXN for the same thing, which is around 38 USD.
tiamat1990 @ Oct 26th 2007 4:56PM
You've only realized this now? ALL GAMES are twice or sometimes even three times more expensive. And we also get them late! We're shafted yet again...
Serious Kano @ Oct 26th 2007 5:23PM
Huh? Last time I checked it I wasn't twice as rich as the American average. Must be the late revenge for releasing Super Mario Strikers in Europe first...
Damn, I can't even import it because of the regional code...
DAMN YOU NINTENDOOOO!!!
Mike Jenkins @ Oct 26th 2007 6:07PM
I wouldn't even pay $20 for it, and I'm not.
meist3r @ Oct 26th 2007 6:36PM
I'm from the old world and the reason that its 30 Euros is that 29.99 simply sounds great as a retail price when bundled with a game for christmas. You get it for 19.99$ in Whatever-Mart I would guess. I for one will definitely NOT buy this thing. Not only do I think the Zapper is a quite useless peripheral (they freed me from clutching a 6 inch pad and now I have to hug a 15 inch riflette?) but the only reason I am a little excited is because of the Zelda shooting range thingie (love Zelda, love shooters > yay) and as we all know these will pop up all over eBay within minutes.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Oct 26th 2007 6:53PM
And how later European releases and constant rip-offs are news???
That's pretty much never changing reality.
I'd rather had blogs NOT reminding me which shithole I'm living in.
Flynsk @ Oct 26th 2007 7:04PM
Damn, maybe we should set up a US to EU zapper relief effort.

Welcome to the world of gaming outside North America and Japan ie being analy raped on prices and release dates for EVERY title.
I was going to get the RE:UC bundle but it's going to be too expensive in Aus.
mian @ Oct 27th 2007 2:16AM
Wouldn't the EU price be after tax? What's standard, 17.5%? So the product is actually 35$.
A quick look at French Amazon shows new first party games going for 49Euros (70$), and some EA titles going for 59 ($84), oddly enough. Minus the tax, that's $60ish and $75ish respectively. Our zapper bundle is 40% of our standard game price ($50). Theirs is somewhere between 46% and 58% of their standard.
It's not great, but realistically what's there is a sub-20% hike, not a 100% hike.
Don @ Oct 27th 2007 3:59AM
In Canada we might have to be paying something like $40.00 for it too..... even though our dollar is currently worth more than the U.S. dollar....

It's only $20.00 in the U.S.? Sheesh.
Blast Processing Megadrive @ Oct 27th 2007 5:08AM
HAHAHAHAHA
No.
I don't mind for the current price of $20, though. Since it comes with a "game."
sean @ Oct 27th 2007 6:31AM
you have to take into account that wages are a lot higher in the uk than in the us, and this is why so many things are more expensive.
genocidalrobot @ Oct 27th 2007 10:00PM
$20 is less than going out to dinner for two, with drinks. I'll snatch it up if I don't end up getting it as a gift for Christmas.
Simon @ Oct 28th 2007 10:26AM
As long as you buy it, the price will stay high. The sellers are always going to adapt to the buyer's demand. So if you really don't like the price, then boycott it, or find a way to import consoles and games/peripherals from a different region.
(01) @ Oct 28th 2007 2:45PM
Considering I wouldn't pay $20 US for it, I'm fairly sure I won't be importing it for double the cost...
