Matt C.'s new hype train: Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
Now that Zack & Wiki has been released into the wild, IGN's Matt Casamassina needs something new to hype, and we're all sorts of behind this latest choice: Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. In a recent blog entry, he reports that the controls are out of this world. In fact, he says the WWII title "beats the pants off Metroid Prime 3 in the FPS control department. This is the new Wii benchmark, period." That's a bold statement, but it seems to jibe with what we've seen and heard so far about the game ... and hey, we get bonus incredible multiplayer to boot. Put us down in the excited column on this one.
In the same post, he drops possible hints of an Elebits sequel. Exciting!

Yeah, this game is looking really good and worth AT LEAST a rent. 32-player online multiplayer? Count me in.

I'm at odds over this, I hated MOH Vanguard on Wii, but I love Airborne, maybe I'll rent it first, but damn it looks cool.

I hope this campaign is more successful than the (very deserving) Zdub campaign. MOHH2 only works if tons of people buy it. Without the online mode, it's an all too conventional WWII shooter. If it doesn't sell well, other developers might not replicate the controls, or focus on online play (having been repeatedly assured by George Harrison that Wii owners aren't into that sort of thing). If it does sell, it could save the genre on Wii.
Is NWF going to run some Heroes 2 tourneys? Like DS game night?

I got a chance to try the light-gun style zapper mode of this game at E for All.
It was extremely underwhelming.
As for the actual game, I can't make a guess, but it seems odd that they'd show a mode that wasn't the best.
mian @ Oct 25th 2007 8:20PM
They're counting on the rails mode to expand the audience. Of course, you don't have to use the Zapper. I've yet to hear any previewers who favor it, but then they're all hardcore gamers. Who knows, maybe casuals will like it.
Clearly however, the 32 player online vs mode is going to get the most play time. Campaign mode because it's expected. Arcade mode for some lighter fare. But multiplayer is the ballgame.

I really want this game and all but like so many others I am kind of skeptical about it. The online mode sounds like the only thing the game really has going for it with 32 players but it is also were you can jump into a game at any time. This leads me to believe that the online mode will be just a map with people running around knocking each other off. Sounds fun but if that is all the online play is it could get boring really fast.
Does anyone know if there will be any co-op, mission based, or capture the flag modes?
Stern @ Oct 26th 2007 4:07AM
There will be deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag

"There will be deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag"
I think there's also one another objective based mode, but I'm not sure...
