A friend pointed out to me that the Release Date on the American site has been changed to TBD, those three terrible letters that have signaled so many disappointing periods of want and frenzy.

Personally, although I want this game out ASAP, I'd rather wait a few months more.
Case in point: Mario Kart DS. That game would've shined with 2 months of working on the online component. Its a great game, but the online multiplayer is lacking...
Imagine if said delay brings us Megaman (Come on Capcom, make it happen!), yes, I'm willing to wait a few months to have Megaman in Brawl.
With the appearance of Sonic, and the delay on the same day, I wonder if Sega approached them with Sonic a bit too late, and they had to ask if Sonic was worth a 2 month delay to themselves... Not an easy question...

I say if something need to be fixed they can take all the time they want!
But i must say with every dojo update i want it more and more! And i wanted it alot before!
if we're lucky the delay wont be for us to..... but i mite just cry if it is....

I'm sick of waiting for this game. That said, I realize that I'll be playing this game A LOT for probably at least 4 years (Melee for about 6 years so far) so if they need to push it back a little further to perfect it more or add more content, I guess that's ok with me.

That would be implying that the "rest of the world" is scheduled to get SSBB this year....as far as I'm aware - it was only the US and Japan.
Us Europeans are always getting the shaft - we ain't even got MP3 yet

Exactly, unlike Zelda TP, which was delayed 2 years IIRC, this is a game that you'll be playing 4-6 years more (till Smash Bros Armageddon or whatever fancy title they announce get released, at least). Its well worth the wait, though I hope the wait is bearable, considering this'll be a Brawless Xmas...

Maybe they decided to work on the online a bit, and that is why its delayed, just like Nushio said, two months can make all the difference for an online mode.

seeing as it is being released the first week of finals...i'd def prefer a delay.
Quaddw @ Oct 11th 2007 10:21AM
who is 2nd character in 2nd row from top ? Snake ?
SkyCroc @ Oct 11th 2007 10:24AM
I thought it was weird that the biggest 2 games on the Wii would be released 3 weeks apart from each other.

i've got no problems with a delay, i'm just hoping that that delay date isn't delayed again, please let us get it before august 08

I try to tell myself that this is great news -- I've been through a marathon with BioShock, then Metroid, and now the Orange Box. After I beat Ep2 and Portal, and tire of TF2 (that should take a while), I've got a laundry list of second-tier games to fall back on, many of which I really want to play. I still haven't gotten the Wii version of RE4, then there's a few 360 RPGs that look good... I could probably keep myself busy for months even if nothing worth buying comes out in the meantime.
I try to tell myself that, but I still get really disappointed when I hear about delays like this. Dammit.

I think that they may be ironing out some bugs, and maybe lining things up for a simultaneous worldwide release, that way everyone is on equal footing at the same time. if one region starts out a month or two before another, they'll kinda have an advantage

Who knows? The wording on the site was, as ever, ambivalent. Though it has beeen changed to TBD, it seems as if Sakura does not WANT to delay it. NOA might just want to talk about it a little more.

While part of me is saddened by the news, I am not too disappointed. I need some time to play Super Mario Galaxy which will hopefully not be released. Even without Smash Bros. this holiday season has a lot going on and I probably (still) won't have time to play very many games too in depth, so I'm not too upset.
