John Carmack ponders Orcs & Elves on Wii
"Maybe we will do a Wii version next... with a magic wand."Those were the words of John Carmack, CTO and co-founder of id Software. While his company has made their fortune in the PC sector, the company has also outsourced development for some of its titles for gaming consoles, as well as most recently entering the mobile phone market. Now, they're bringing one of their mobile phone games, Orcs & Elves, to the DS.
But, John apparently thinks the game could do well on the Wii. Having never played Orcs & Elves before, we're looking forward to the DS installment. Still, the premise of utilizing the Wiimote as a wand, casting spells and cleaning up dungeons, is one we can get behind.
Any of you play Orcs & Elves before? Think the game can be adapted for the Wii?

I just hope this game is a lot more involved graphically and gameplay wise. I mean, the DS just looks like the port of the cell phone version which, I must say, is not a compliment. The controls alone are not enough to warrant a simple game like this expanding everywhere.

Actually, I bought the original for my mobile. It's a freaking awsome game. I did not think it would be because cell phone games are usually kinda...stupid. Orcs and Elves just kinda sucks you in and wont let you go. I will say this though: If its going to be on the Wii, they better heavily upgrade it. I would buy it nomatter what they do cause I did like the cell phone game, but I would expect them to update it heavily.

I tried it out yesterday. Very cool for a cell phone game. Definately would need some upgrading to play on the Wii but could be fun!

Maybe John Carmack can do some of his 3D engine magic on the Wii...if it weren't for him, 3D games might not be like what they are today. Well, maybe that last sentence isn't entirely true, we'd still reach that tech at some point, but his hours spent at keyboard did help speed along the process of 3D development...
Of course, Orcs and Elves is good enough for me, it'd be really cool to be able to do that.

this game is decent for a cell phone game. I dont think it looks very impressive on the ds though. It would be really interesting to see what they could come up with for a Wii version. Im all for it.
