Wii Warm Up: Cats, but not necessarily LOL

By now, you may have seen the, uh, interesting Geometry Wars Galaxies ads that feature ... well, we don't really want to call them lolcats, because they don't really make us laugh. And isn't that the point? Anyone can take a picture of a cat and slap a caption on it. That isn't the source of the funny. The cats need to be doing something -- see exhibits A and B -- to bring the funny.

At least, that's our opinion. You can see our take on bland, humorless lolcats above (with special thanks to Y.T. for mostly cooperating). But hey, maybe you like what they're doing. Let's hear what you have to say!

Croove55-- but what if the cat hadn't had that expression? Then it wouldn't be funny.

Take the GWG pic with the cat tangled up in the Wii remote cord. If the caption had been something about the game being frustrating and the tangling being like the feline equivalent of knocking over a magazine rack, it would be (to me) a billion times funnier. The caption and the pic really need to go together, otherwise, it's just not as funny.

Point taken and well made, but the caption on the lolcat I posted is pretty damn universal. Scroll down the Icanhascheeseburger front page and replace whatever caption is on each picture with "What did you just say to me you piece of s***?". I guarantee that over 50% of the pictures are still funny.
