Wii Fit may
encourage you to exercise, but this bad boy
requires that you do it -- for real, none of this leaning crap -- in order to play your game of choice. Gamercize hooks into both the controller and a piece of real exercise equipment and unless you're actively working it, your controller won't function. That's one way to increase the difficulty on something.
Metroid Prime 3 too easy? Throw in a little cycling while you're at it and see how many times you miss those jumps. We're not sure just how much the Wii Gamercize system will cost you, however; though they promise to start marketing their setup for the next-gen consoles this month, the site doesn't yet seem to be
updated.
Apparently Gamercize has been around for a while, but we missed hearing about it. Now that we have, we're honestly not sure if we should just laugh or actually be interested. It could be a neat idea, but there's something about it that inspires giggles. Whatcha think?

If I'm not mistaken, there were similar devices created YEARS ago that utilized an exercise bike rather than a stair climber. Not really a new or unique idea.
Besides, how does this "hook into the controller" of a console with wireless controllers? Seems like they're about one generation too late.

I've thought of similar things myself. I sit all day for my job then I go home and sit all night in front of the TV or Computer. I've been gaining like 10 pounds a year. I thought it would be good to put in a cycling device or something that would keep the monitor powered. So if I stopped cycling, the monitor would turn off. Maybe there could be settings so that I'd be forced to cycle for at least 30 min before it would just stay on for the rest of the day. That would at least perhaps keep me at the same weight.

No, this isn't competition for Wii Fit. From what I can tell of the description, this *interferes* with whatever game you are currently playing. It doesn't actually add to the controls or interact with the game itself. On the other hand, Wii Fit will have custom games that will allow you to be more fully immersed in the experience. In short, this thing punishes you for not exercising, while Wii Fit rewards you for exercising, as far as I can tell. I'd rather be rewarded.

I'd love to get a wii, but haven't sprung for it yet. I think a great alternative is a last gen system (XBOX, PS2) and a BodyPad controller.
I've posted a blog with some videos using the the BodyPad fighting system. It's similar to the Wii in that you can throw real punches to throw punches in-game, but different in that it works with PS2 and XBOX. It also allows for kicks so that you can control most fighting games.
