Shelves: they're what your games sit on
This isn't strictly Wii-related, except in the sense that Wii games take up space just like any other games. We happen to enjoy talking about gamer culture, and the display of collections is certainly an important component of the gamer lifestyle.
This article from the fantastic retrogaming site Racketboy covers some basic information about choosing shelves for your game collection. For example, magazines are really heavy, so you should look for reinforced shelves! The article covers optimum shelf depth, the issue of doors vs. no doors, and some discussion of where to get shelves.
As we get older and more "grown-up", we're expected to have somewhat presentable living spaces even as we accumulate more game junk. A huge stack of cartridges on top of the TV gets less acceptable with time. We must be considerate of the people living with us who may not want to trip over a pile of Sega CD boxes! Besides, it's much nicer-looking, and safer, to keep everything organized and out of the way.

My games are sitting on top of my DVD player leaning on my Wii. As my collection grows (10 games so far) I'll look for a better solution.

That looks like these are from my old middle school in Kansas...

I just invested in an awesome shelf that is now home to my games, DVDs and CDs. www.boltz.com - the MM252 multimedia rack. It's a sturdy steel shelf with room for 252 DVDs (or CD/game space equivalent). It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it.

Well, at this point in my gaming life, I have far too many games to stack on my TV... my wife would kill me. I have my own office in our finished basement that houses my cpu and the ridiculous amount of games/systems/shwag that I own. I use bookshelves (2), a 3-drawer filing cabinet (1), the small shelves on my desk and a few boxes. No, seriously, it's THAT bad! :\ Please, don't side with my wife on this one...

Mine are in special media drawers in my modular entertainment center. It's a lot more space efficient that way and they're all still easily viewable when the drawer is open. Plus it looks neat and tidy.

well I tend to trade in Wii games after I'm done with them, or just rent them. otherwise I would never be able to try new games cause I don't make alot of money (I'm still in high school gimme a break). but my 15 or so game collection consists of about 12 gamecube games and resident evil 4 Wii edition, then guitar hero 2 and soul reaver 2 for ps2. and my ps2 games are under the desk that my tv sits on stacked right on top of the maybe 7 genesis games that, for some reason, I still have. the cube games (and re4) are on top of my dvd player, which is on top of my ps2 and they lean against my t.v. and yes I know it's weird having a ps2 and a dvd player

I've long since overloaded my book cases with real books (who'd thought it? A person actually reading?) My games currently share space with my DVDs in my computer desk, but I'm building a cabinet to mount on the wall for them soon.
It helps I don't buy a new system until there's a large enough library to draw me to it. The Wii and PS3 are still to thread bare to buy for me, and to be honest, I've only had a PS2 for about 8 months now. Gamecube is much older, but I long since finished my collection there. Sadly there is nothing else coming for it, and nothing for the PS2 either, so I'll probably be waiting a couple years for enough games on either the Wii or PS2 to justify the purchase price.
