Sex Pistols reunite to record Guitar Hero 3 track
Activision is really doing their best to make us care about Guitar Hero III. Within the context of Wii Fanboy, they're beating out Rock Band at the moment strictly on the fact that Guitar Hero III is actually, for real, coming out on the Wii. But stuff like this, that is actually interesting content in the game, doesn't hurt.
First they had Living Colour rerecord the awesome "Cult of Personality", and now the Sex Pistols have reunited (again) to record "Anarchy in the U.K." for the game. In both cases, this was done because the master recordings for the songs could not be found. Activision certainly seems to be wielding more clout than we realized they had. The Sex Pistols recently rerecorded "Pretty Vacant" for EA's skate, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will do things they've done before, again, for more money, twice. And why not?
"Anarchy in the U.K." should be the easiest song in the game, because it doesn't matter if you hit the right notes or keep any kind of rhythm.

"'Anarchy in the U.K.' should be the easiest song in the game, because it doesn't matter if you hit the right notes or keep any kind of rhythm."
If you try playing a real guitar, Anarchy in the UK, though not extremely difficult to play, does require some skill.

Cheap shot, and way out of touch with reality. Is that the same way you think about The Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated" that was on Guitar Hero?
I really hope that nobody believes that crap about Activision not being able to find the masters. The only reason they did a new recording for GH3 is the money. If they used the original, which is part of Virgin's catalouge, they would have to split the money. On October 1st, 2007 EMI/Virgin Records will re-release "Anarchy In The U.K." as part of the 30th year anniversary of "Never Mind The Bullocks...Here's The Sex Pistols". One single will be re-released on vinyl each week in October and the the 12 inch will be released on Oct 29th. These are all from the analog masters. The royalties wil be split among the many, many, many people who have a share.
By recording the new version for GH3, the three original memebers, plus the original producer Chris Thomas, split the money. Just like they did for EA's skate, when they recorded "Pretty Vacant".
Don't forget what the Pistols called their 1996 reunion tour: "Filthy Lucre". They are only in it for the money these days, because they never got it the first time. The managers, lawyers, and labels robbed them blind for years until they won a long legal battle in 1986.

Yes, guys, I know that "Anarchy in the U.K" has notes and rhythm. The studio version, at least. Those guys were decent musicians pretending not to be.
And coalhalo, you manage to be disdainful toward me, Activision, the Sex Pistols, and Virgin Records. Is there any participant in this that you don't hate?

You can listen to the entire song list online at http://www.guitarherosoundtracks.com , it's pretty awesome. It's a lot better than Guitar Hero II. If anyone's interested there's also a site for listening to Rock Band's song list: http://www.rockbandsoundtracks.com .
