Wii releases for the week of September 24th
This week doesn't hold much for eager Wii enthusiasts, aside from Konami's introduction of its wildly-popular franchise Dance Dance Revolution to the platform. If you're looking for something else to play, well you might just be out of luck. Most of what's available doesn't look all too appealing, to us at least. This week's releases are:
- Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party Bundle
- Hot Wheels Beat That
- Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
- Balls of Fury

If Balls of fury (the game) is as half as good as the movie looks, then definitely. Hope they keep the movie cast on for voice acting though, cause everybody loves christopher walken.

IGN had some interesting things to say about Dragon Blade. I'll be looking forward to their full review.
RE4 and MP2:E/MP3:C will be the only things to pull me away from a game rhyming with Day-O for the next few weeks.

If DDR is decent I'll get it, as I never had a PS2 or Xbox to play DDR on.
TooManyGames @ Sep 24th 2007 11:49AM
Don't Dave Mirra BMX Challenge, Mercury Meltdown Revolution, and Ninjabread Man come out this week as well?
Poops @ Sep 24th 2007 12:00PM
Run those last three titles together, with a little editing, and you've got what looks like the first entry in Mattel's controversial new "Hot Wheels ADULT" line:
Hot Wheels' Beat That Dragon Blade:
Wrath of Fire, Balls of Fury
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go beat my dragon blade to the latest issue of Naughty Meter Maids.

dragon blade looks promising. ill wait for the review though. controllers might be an issue
Vyse @ Sep 24th 2007 12:45PM
How the hell didn't I know DDR was coming out this week? I have been looking forward to it since the first videos. How about a song list Konami!

This kind of blah blah blah is something I would expect from Joystiq, or one of the other fanboys site. For weeks we have been given nothing, and now we get games; some look quite decent and you guys don't get as excited as when you given your alotment of virtual console titles. I am not saying these are AAA but they are far from filler trash. Dragon Blade is an action title, original to the Wii, with some neat control, and is only $40. DDR is part of a major franchise and is an original for the Wii as well. Overall I have been surprised by the lack of coverage for these two titles.
I hope this is just some duldrums after the TGS excitment, or maybe Halo 3 jealousy but shame on you Wiifanboy.

...the movie looks absolutely atrocious.

Hot Wheels might be a game that I buy so that I may have some gaming time with my son.
JC Fletcher @ Sep 24th 2007 1:15PM
Dragon Blade was pretty fun at PAX. Maybe I'll give it a rental!

No Wii game for me this week.
Its all about the Halo :)
stinkbug @ Sep 24th 2007 1:52PM
Yes, why no mention of Mercury Meltdown? Apparently it's just $19.99 and a fair amount of fun.
Mattmatt @ Sep 24th 2007 2:45PM
Looking forward to DDR :d
Larz @ Sep 24th 2007 3:25PM
I might get DDR for me girl. The song list is pretty good.

Halo 3 jealousy? Riiight, they're jealous of an over-hyped turd in a box that you can get online with and hear 12-year-olds and meat-heads cussing each other out. And I'm sure they're jealous of the crappy controls too, especially after experiencing what a good FPS can be like on the Wii with Corruption.

dude...I'm a proud Wii360 owner...so I'd like to think I'm somewhat neutral. But when it comes to FPS, if it's a competition between a wiimote and a 360 controller, I'd take the 360 controller in a heartbeat. Not to mention it's one of the most comfortable controllers ever made.
"Turd in a box" uhh...It may not live up to the hype, but it will still be in many peoples minds one of the greatest games of all time. I personally am not a big online player, I'm all about the story-line...so no, it's not just about getting online and hearing people cussing each other out...
Reric @ Sep 24th 2007 3:51PM
I'm guessing Mercury Meltdown isn't on the list because it has been announced as being released a dozen times now and everytime it doesn't show up. Currently Amazon has it listed as coming out next week, with the PSP version only being released this week.

I don't own a 360. I traded it to my buddy in exchange for a Wii, which he obtained on launch day. I have never regretted it. So I say this with no fanboydom dictating my thought process. Halo is a great game and there is no reason to call it a turd in a box. It's never been my cup of tea, but a lot of people love it. While you are right that the controls in metroid are better, the complete lack of multiplayer gives us no means to truly gauge there power. AI routines can be modified to fit a control scheme. But humans are smart and will do what it takes to take you out. I think that the main reason online was left out of corruption was to prevent the holes in the control system from turning us away from wii fps's. I still wish it had it though.
Reeve @ Sep 24th 2007 5:08PM
Oh man, I'd love to get DDR Hottest Party, but I already have a set of DDR mats for the PS2 and really don't need another...
tiamat1990 @ Sep 24th 2007 5:31PM
Dance Dance REvolution!!! Finally!!! Oh I've been dying to play it!
I might rent out Dragon Blade as well. I've been hearing good things about it from good old IGN.
Mr Khan @ Sep 24th 2007 5:34PM
Yeah, lets not hate on Halo 3. We wouldn't want to lower ourselves to Sony fanboys, would we?
On a side note, i wonder why, when any hateful statement is posted over on joystiq against Wii or 360, people automatically assume its a sony fan spreading the hate. Nintendo people can launch hate against H3, and MS fans have their hatred of, say, Mario titles as well
RIch @ Sep 24th 2007 9:22PM
I might try Dragon Blade if it gets some decent reviews. I just beat Metroid which I absolutely loved and need another game. Though I'm trying my damndest to beat Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations before Zelda PH next week.
And I'm still waiting on some more reviews for Dewy's Adventure. I guess it wasn't that good of a game.
However, come November 15, I will officially be broke. That's when literally 10 games come out that I need.
