Nintendo Power confirms Samba de Amigo
GoNintendo readers spotted something interesting in this month's Nintendo Power. And it would have been hard for them not to-- it's right on the cover there. Samba de Amigo is indeed coming to the Wii! As card-carrying Sega fanboys (with a specialization in Dreamcast-era Sega, to be exact) we couldn't be more thrilled. What a perfect game/controller combination-- almost as perfect as the real Samba controllers.
Oh, but wait. According to the GoNintendo post, the new game is being made by Gearbox Software, who we can assure you is not Sonic Team. In fact, their history features nothing but FPS games and one Tony Hawk port. A very interesting choice to develop your bouncy, cartoony rhythm game, Sega. A very interesting choice indeed. Gearbox employees-- if you're reading, here's a special message from us to you. Please don't screw up the game about a monkey shaking maracas in time to Ricky Martin songs. We're not saying you're not good developers-- far from it-- but this is about as different from Counter-Strike as a game could be.

fantastic news gearbox can make a good game and im sure they will do this title credit.
On another note..... how good would counterstrike be on the wii especially with online 32 player action, now that would be a dream come true!

Sweet! I can't wait to play this game! According to the Nintendo Power blurb, you now play as a little Mexican drug cartel monkey who has to samba his way past angry rival drug lords, border security and angry rednecks who guard the US border and drink a lot of beer. Mess up, though, and you'll get your little monkey ass pumped full of lead!
Gotta love that Gearbox!

Is there going to be a stage where you have to shake the wiimote to the rhythm, or de_dust gets nuked?
Counter-terrorists win!

If they made a Counter Strike source port on Wii I would buy it RIGHT NOW.
And hey that's one game where 90% of the players abuse voicechat anyway, and the pre-loaded voice commands are 100% more helpful.

On a more serious note, I really really hope this game comes with maracas. Not maraca attachments for the Wiimote, not maraca sounds coming from the Wiimote.
Maracas, damnit.

Oh dear lord yes.
I had the original Samba on Dreamcast back in the day.
Hopefully Gearbox does this right.
Also, CS on Wii - just doesn't seem like it would be right. Maybe I'm too far into PC shooters though...
