Blue Dragon casts its shadow on the DS

Mistwalker seems to be pro-DS, which we guess means they like money. Not only are they bringing us ASH, which looks not completely terrible, but now it seems that they will be sending us Blue Dragon, the title that encouraged Japanese gamers to buy an Xbox 360. We smell a special edition DS Lite in the works for this one. After all, they have to try to drive system sales again somehow.

So what's the less-than-good news? It's a card game. Technically, a role-playing card game, according to the scan from Shonen Jump (available after the break). Mistwalker apparently likes to blend game types; one style just isn't enough for them when it comes to their DS offerings. We'll keep an eye out for more information on this one, because Mistwalker might just surprise us and turn out the best damned card game ever.

What should have been good news turned into 'who gives a rat's ass'. Why do companies keep doing this?

Blue Dragon was a mediocre game, so maybe the card system will spruce it up a bit.

Wow. Blu Dragon was so long I couldn't bea it out of shher boredom. Good thing I only rented it. This will suck. a lot. If you want any kind of strategy gaem, just get Advance Wars DS or Fire Emblem or something.

You had me until you said card game. Which is unfortunate, really. I'm sure there are good card-type games out there but I have a hard enough time playing the games from genres I already know I like.

This sounds awesome. I must be the only fan of these types of games, as I really enjoyed games like Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and I'm currently playing Metal Gear Acid. I have to say I prefer the 'blended' card game / something else genre, as opposed to just playing Yu-Gi-Oh on my PSP. I can't get into 'just' a card game. Unless they made Magic the Gathering for DS, then I'd be psyched. I'll definately keep an eye on this one...could be pretty fun.
