TurboGrafx16 CD-based games coming to the VC
Some of us here are admitted TG16 fans to the end. So, this latest news of more support for the Virtual Console has us all kinds of excited here in the Wii Fanboy offices. Not only will titles from the TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM and TurboGrafx16 SUPER CD-ROM systems be available to Wii owners in North America, but also other territories such as Japan, Europe and Australia. Basically, everywhere. As of now, it looks like 10 or more games will be available this year, with 5 or more becoming available next year. Estimated cost for these games will be 800 Wii Points.

Rondo...?

So, does this mean we're getting a hard drive?
Mr Khan @ Sep 14th 2007 5:04PM
I almost think we would have to get an HDD
Neo Geo, TGCD, soon we'll probably see Sega CD/32X titles, some broader form of storage HAS to be in the works

I can't imagine anyone actually COMPRESSING the FMVs used on the CDs or doing anything to make the game better.
Here's an interesting question regarding cd games.... What about the loading times? :D
Mr Khan @ Sep 14th 2007 5:31PM
Well yeah, a lot of those CD-Based games could definitely be compressed, especially since the whole purpose of using CD games back then was to get "Digital-quality audio" and FMV's of Redbook format, but some of those games actually had a good bit of game in them
Either way, Nintendo has to at least give the option, even if they keep games in small sizes, they are severely limiting the number of games that can be held simulataneously on the console, and lots of people (myself included) are turned off by the idea of re-downloading

I think they are just waiting until a critical mass of meaningful reasons to make one accrues, i.e. in the form of large VC games and WiiWare. There is no way its not in the cards.

Sega CD - Sonic CD possibly then? I sure hope so...
wildweasel @ Sep 14th 2007 10:20PM
They'd better put freakin' Snatcher, Shining Force CD, Silpheed, and Popful Mail on here!

This is one of the systems I was never able to play. Mayble I'll get to catch up on some of the old classics?

I can't believe that The Lost Levels is only available until the end of the month. That's insane. The whole region better download it while they can. Oh wait, now I get it.
Patius @ Sep 16th 2007 1:00AM
I would get Wii points just to get sonic CD.
I really would.
Also, I really want a hard drive to be made, so MMORPGS could be made. I don't play them, but I know it would boost sales.

I don't understand why fans of the classic Sonic games don't just pick up the Gamecube Mega & Gems collections.
You can find them for around $15 each.
Terry Bodega @ Sep 17th 2007 10:25AM
With a firmware update, an external HD or the newer 8 - 32gb SD cards would be perfect storage for the wii.

re: pwnmanexe
I meant b/c you can have all the classic games for cheaper and without taking up precious Wii storage space.
