Project H.A.M.M.E.R. gets cold shoulder in Japan?
For us, we feel it's the right move, considering the demo we played back at E306 was not the least bit of fun. But, what about those of you hoping to get some intimate time with the title? Think this is the beginning of the end entirely for this game?

I don't think anyone was sad that this game was canceled. What they were really sad about was that Nintendo had finally released a more serious adult game. It was Nintendo saying, "See, we aren't just making Kiddie Games" only to cancel it. So, its not the game, its the idea that Nintendo could have just given up on that whole idea of changing their image at all by making a new serious franchise. I would really be interested in what Nintendo could do when charged to created an M rated game for example. They are so creative in all their main titles. I just wish they would expand their lineup. I mean, good for them with their whole casual game thing, but I want some more hardcore games out of them. Thats why this is sad.

Well, I was kind of looking forward to this game. However, there's a lot of great games coming out for the Wii already, so I'll probably forget about it really soon. However, I thought it looked like a really cool more mature and dark beat 'em up game.

I see it as Castlevania Wii. We have good concepts of what we want but the developers don't know how to approach it. They should however be aware we want them.

There's a large number of games coming out for the Wii, but all of it in a kid friendly cartoon style that Nintendo consoles are known for. There's just not enough games in the Resident Evil/Metroid Prime mould (except for Manhunt 2 I guess).

I have to say that I think Nintendo needs a new franchise that is not so much like a cartoon. I have to admit that Nintendo developed games are really well thought out are very good and I would love to see this game come out and see what the big N could do.

Legend has it that Project HAMMER was put "on hiatus" in order to "divert resources to somethign with more appeal," I.E. they sicced Nintendo Software Technology (essentially Nintendo USA Studios) on something else. Given that that could lead to another Metroid Prime Hunters or another Wave Race, that is a good thing
And to satisfy others, Disaster: Day of Crisis is still said to be on track, although we have all of 1 concept movie and 1 in-engine screen shot of that whole title
