The Wiimote gets a knock-off
Found in a Wal-Mart store, the above toy promises exciting games of football with motion-based controls. All in one Wiimote-like package! While we can't even begin to fathom enjoying this toy game on that small of a screen, we can understand the knock-off look. The Wii is popular and selling extremely well, so why not try to dupe unsuspecting consumers? Shame on you shameless manufacturer.

Hmm. You'd think this would be illegal somehow. You know, I mean, isn't the Wiimote design and button layout trademarked, or... something?

@1 I believe that u are righ. Wal-mart might get a cease and desist from Nintendo. But, if I am wrong "sigh"

Mmm... you can smell the lawsuit.

I also just saw the baseball version yesterday... i guess you actually swing it to swing in the game on the tiny screen...
G Lampa @ Aug 16th 2007 1:59PM
And just how are you supposed to even SEE the screen if you are wagging the whole device around!?!??
OMG. Horrible. ANYONE who pays even a DOLLAR for that should just punch themselves in the face!!
Ho Ho HO!!!

You want to know what really pisses me off about this?
I sell relaxation DVD's (sunsetsofhawaii.com) and I have been trying for a long time now to get Wal Mart stores (at least in Hawaii) to carry my DVD's but I continue to get ignored.
Then I see that they are allowing this stupid and downright illegal knockoff of a Wii remote through their so-called stringent process???
UGH!

Take a look at the back of the basketball one. Where it would normally be emblazoned with a letter B, instead is the word "STEAL". Kind of fitting for a knockoff piece of junk like this.

I sent this tip in to Wii Fanboy a couple days ago (not the picture). It was about $6 at the Wal-Mart near me.
I sure hope they are sued, they need to learn that they can't copy other people's ideas.
flameofdoom666 @ Aug 16th 2007 8:51PM
Wow... people go through a lot of effort to steal ideas.
Miles @ Aug 25th 2007 2:33PM
Something tells me that you can't swing it.
