Limited edition blood-covered DS Lite
The dried blood on the Polar White DS Lite above is from a car accident last week in which the driver of an ambulance lost control and hit a mid-size SUV at 60 MPH. Its warning lights were not flashing at the time. The impact caused the SUV to flip over four times before landing upside down; the ambulance was also thrown over the parkway shoulder. Thankfully, everyone survived the collision with only a few injuries.
Isfet, one of the SUV's passengers and the owner of the DS Lite, happened to be playing Etrian Odyssey when the accident occurred. We knew that the dungeon crawler was pretty punishing, but we weren't aware that its difficulty was so severe that you can almost die while playing it. Despite the tumbling the handheld went through, it still works! Isfet is a bit worried, though, that it might start to smell if he doesn't clean it off soon. He's not sure if the blood was from his head or the piece of glass that stabbed his arm.

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... What the fuck is wrong with you people?
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 19th 2007 6:09PM
It's not quite Gulf bunker getting blown and the tank GB surviving but still nice.
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 19th 2007 6:10PM
Chill everyone is all right. The situation could have been much worse. This kind of article takes the heaviness out.
ssuk @ Jul 19th 2007 6:10PM
oh and, in b4 DO A BARREL ROLL.
Jared @ Jul 19th 2007 6:30PM
LOL! at the story.
But I came here thinking I had a chance to win one.
Ben @ Jul 19th 2007 6:38PM
This article was disturbing and the picture was unnecessary.
ConstyXIV @ Jul 19th 2007 6:39PM
@5 Jared:
I can tell you how...
Wait, you don't want it to be your own blood?
Chris @ Jul 19th 2007 6:57PM
Wow. When I read the title and saw the picture I thought it was a Resident Evil special edition or something...
X @ Jul 19th 2007 7:01PM
Lolwut
Save yourself some money, and slit your wrists over a DS lite.
Problem solved.
Spaz @ Jul 19th 2007 7:34PM
Wow, is this article really necessary?
Bill McCai @ Jul 19th 2007 7:45PM
of course it's necessary.
humour, people!
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 19th 2007 8:01PM
Nuts I wanted to say it ssuk. Hit Z or R twice!
Alisha Karabinus @ Jul 19th 2007 8:16PM
Look at it this way: having the guy still around to tell the story is MUCH, MUCH better than the alternative. He's okay, his DS is okay, and now he can breathe a sigh of relief and talk about not playing Etrian Odyssey in the car anymore.
Jared @ Jul 19th 2007 8:23PM
Come on guys, this wasn't an accident.
Its clearly a fashion statement.
Seriously, slap "Resident Evil" on that thing and no one would think twice.
Think about it Nintendo. Think of the money.
I'd buy it.
I'm so tired of the Black, White, and Pink color schemes with everything.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 19th 2007 8:51PM
I hope everyone is okay!
The DS IS something of an art piece now, and the story is compelling.
I say take a high-res photo and have it made into a custom skin.
Same effect, zero biohazards.
WIN WIN!
Your easy line should be, "Yeah, but you should see the OTHER guy's DS!"
Protospasm @ Jul 19th 2007 9:27PM
LOLZ; my initial reaction was "Spshhh... I bet it's only available in Japan too."
And then I read it and laughed... btw; I still want it.
Brendon @ Jul 19th 2007 9:24PM
But did the hinge crack?
sergioalb64 @ Jul 19th 2007 10:04PM
Things could've been much worse if he had been playing Trauma Center :)
I'm very, very glad that this fellow DS player is all right; thank God.
ricky jr the 8th esquire @ Jul 19th 2007 11:02PM
hope the dude didn't have some hiv......i can see it now in the headlines "Gamer Dies of Aids from playing a blood encrusted DS" then everyone sues nintendo for making a handheld that can cause people to get aids even though nintendo said in a press statement not to use other people blood encrusted ds...then Jack Thompson will give a whole freakin write up about why handhelds lead to more violence then movies.....
raycosm @ Jul 19th 2007 11:40PM
But will it blend?
kodysandwich @ Jul 19th 2007 11:56PM
@20
OH GOD LOL!!!!!
dreamparacite @ Jul 20th 2007 2:11AM
Seriously, humor takes out the tragedy, plus, no one was killed, so even more appropriate. PLUS, he must have sent in the picture, so he probably expected an article, no?
NeoteriX @ Jul 20th 2007 8:41AM
"Do a barrel roll"
"But will it blend?"
You guys are awesome. :)
MitchyD @ Jul 20th 2007 12:39PM
Most distasteful article I've ever seen. Jesus christ this is horrible.
mintsauce @ Jul 20th 2007 10:30PM
I'm normally pretty open-minded, but this story is tasteless. It's not funny to show a blood-spattered DS from an actual accident, even if no-one was hurt and you joke about it being a "limited edition".
Randy C @ Jul 26th 2007 8:42PM
L M A O.........................YOU GUYS ARE LOOOOOOOOOOOSERS.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 22nd 2007 10:58AM
Waaa Waaa
Sack up, ya babies.
GlitchCog @ Jul 22nd 2007 2:35PM
My DS Lite was run over by a car. The top LCD is completely broken, but the rest of it works perfectly fine. I made it into a GBA since those games only use one screen.

comment number one is the best in here.
