Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trailers and Tribulations
We were just coming down from our adrenaline-fueled reverie over Contra 4 when this came along and OBJECTED its way into our lives. TAKE THAT!, normal heart rate! It's a trailer for Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations!
What's more, Capcom USA bloggers promise frequent updates on the official blog and in the forums! It's so nice when a company thinks about all of us non-E3-goers who just want to see some cartoon arguing.

Did they really work on the graphics on this one? Everything looks so much smoother and hand drawn than before. PLus their mouths move much better now.
Man I can't wait for this game!

I love Phoenix Wright and have played all the US released games... but... I am really feeling cheated with this franchise... The game play is the same and there is no new animation. They don't try to make anything look better. The first one used the touch screen a little towards the end but the second one seemed more like a a straight GBA port over with nothing added. (except microphone action)
I hate to say it but I may pass on this new edition... sigh... i just know I will be let down unless they up the graphics a bit and change animation so there arent like 5 moves each character does... and adding some true DS functionality is a must... also what about having the trials go more than 2 directions? why can't you have it like trace memory... there are several things to solve... if you dont do certain things you still win the game and uncover some answers... but there are other questions left...
any way just my ranting I suppose.

Those are the graphics they use in every promo. The graphics in the game will be the same as the others save for new characters and backgrounds.

The only reason theyre releasing gba ports here is because no one else has experienced gyakuten saiban (pheonix wright) other than japan. Now that the 3rd game is being released, the next one will be gyakuten saiban 4 and will have all of the ds specific features.

The only reason PW1 had touch-screen feratures, was because it was a re-release of the GBA game in Japan, and they had to make it worthwhile. Now that English speaking countries are getting the games, they're just porting them over, and the next 'new' game in the series (number 4) will (apparently) use full touch-screen/mic features as in case 5 of PW1.

The Phoenix Wright games released in the US are only PORTS of the orginal GBA titles which came out in the early 21st century.
Either way, i'm VERY limited on my kanji, so I knew what to do on the GBA versions, it's gonnabe nice when I import it. Yes, bite me, I wanna play it NOW!

I'm totally going to miss Phoenix after part 3.
JC Fletcher @ Jul 13th 2007 1:20AM
Crisper graphics and better animation would be nice, but the big secret is that Phoenix Wright doesn't even need graphics to do what it does.

Totally incomprehensable sentances, completly un-understandable lines... ACE ATTORNEY 3: THE TRAILER.
Anyway, this game has the best music out of any Gyakuten Saiban game. Didn't really like the cases in it, they were fairly boring, but there were some funny moments, some challenging moments and overall it was a decent game. Playing it in English should be fun too, wonder how many internet memes they'll squeeze into this one. =P
Anyway, Ace Attorney 4 seems to be waist deep in localisation as it was shown off at France's Japon Expo (yes, Japon) under the name Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice. I've also played Gyakuten Saiban 4 and let me tell you, it's one hell of an awesome game. So if you like AA3, you're bound to fall head-over-heels for AA4.
ssuk @ Jul 13th 2007 5:41AM
Oh and spoilers, the mask'd dude's name was Godot in the Japanese version of the game, not sure if they changed it for US release, but I doubt it.

@7 salchemist:
No, you wont...

According to a Capcom press release, Godot keeps his name.
Spikey @ Jul 13th 2007 12:59PM
So after this finally releases, who else will be waiting for Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney? :P
CFTF @ Jul 13th 2007 3:46PM
Even though it doesn't have the 1-5 DS functionality (just a straight GBA port), GS3 is easily the best in the series. Best music, best cases, best everything.
It's a shame that the new features and stuff in AA4 didn't stop it from being awful. Poor Odoroki. He was a great character... he deserved so much better (and what they did to Phoenix was just criminal).
salchemist @ Jul 13th 2007 4:07PM
Hmm... who's opinion should I trust as to the quality of GS/AA 4? One guy, or 500,000 Japanese people?
JC Fletcher @ Jul 13th 2007 7:23PM
First-day sales don't count as opinions about quality.
LOUiE @ Jul 13th 2007 8:12PM
First day sales were about 200,000. It kept selling after initial day sales. That is what he was talking about.
AirPocket @ Jul 13th 2007 10:20PM
OBJECTION!
I don't care what all you say.
I want this game now!
CFTF @ Jul 14th 2007 3:03AM
Many of those Japanese who bought it also agree that it is by far the weakest in the series. Out of all four games, it received the worst reception by fans after its launch.
Even if they bought it, most of them didn't like it either.
doom saber @ Jul 14th 2007 12:03AM
I am happy that Godot kept his name since his name (and one of his behavioral traits) is taken from an english play called Waiting for Godot.
Doesn't seem logical to localize that name considering that it is from an american play.

Speaking of GS4, I never played it, but I thought it got high scores in magazines and such!? Just that opinions from fans can be bias.
