Uber Awesome, i just wish i could put in order which one of the awsome games i want more! i don't have enough money to get all of these games! i'll be buying a game a week.
Mr Khan @ Jul 11th 2007 4:05PM
Something went wrong with how y'all posted the video
I'd get another embeddable video as soon as one crops up if i were you
But it looks awesome, either way. New Power ups and all
Abscissa @ Jul 11th 2007 4:06PM
I've always liked all the 2D and 3D Mario games, but I'd never been particularly excited about Mario Galaxy...until now. :)
Nushio @ Jul 11th 2007 4:33PM
I had always wanteed to be a Bumblebee! (Not!)
I miss my good old racoon from SMB3 :)
Can't wait for Nov 12!
Covarr @ Jul 11th 2007 4:56PM
I was annoyed that Mario hasn't had a proper flying powerup in any games since Super Mario World. Sure, SM64 had the wing cap, but it was time-limited. This makes me very happy.
I don't see the video though. Is the problem on my end, or did you guys embed it wrong, or what?

The trailer, since the "embedded" version on this page doesn't seem to be working.
Dax @ Jul 11th 2007 5:35PM
Looks like it's for preschoolers. And no, I'm not saying it will be easy, I'm just saying that visually, it looks like Sesame Street.
Charles @ Jul 11th 2007 5:51PM
So now Reggie doesn't consider Super Mario Sunshine a "true" sequel to Super Mario 64? That's funny, because I prefer Sunshine to 64 any day.
Nushio @ Jul 11th 2007 5:59PM
The embedded version of the video works perfectly here in Linuxland :P
Mr Khan @ Jul 11th 2007 5:59PM
Spiritually it wasn't
Sunshine was conceptually "more of the same"
While this game is taking a new, great step
Much like 64 did
Mabui @ Jul 11th 2007 6:13PM
How is Sunshine "More of the same" and Galaxy isn't? Oi, I will never understand people. I'm with Charles that I liked Mario Sunshine way more then 64.
This game looks cool, the Bee thing.. looks.. silly.. though.
Billy_McBong @ Jul 11th 2007 6:21PM
#9 same here Linux FTW!!!!!
and how can people prefer sunshine to 64? 64 was perfect
i hated that stupid water-backpack thing
Covarr @ Jul 11th 2007 6:24PM
Embedded version is working here too, now. Whatever the problem was, it was silently fixed.
Dark Lord @ Jul 11th 2007 6:30PM
I think the trailer looks great. Everything seemed fine with the video here in Mustafar. It seems as if the prediction I made was wrong, the controls look great. Just so you guys know I'm a Sith Lord... Dark!
Mr Khan @ Jul 11th 2007 7:36PM
Please; don't mistake my comments for Sunshine bashing, i loved that game too (it was an excellent, colorful jump-fest with great freedom of movement)
I'm just saying that structurally, it was the same thing. The pump pak was just an item, but it was still Mario in a 3D world similarly structured to the one of 64, Galaxy is trying to stretch into a new kind of world
Devine @ Jul 11th 2007 8:03PM
My take on Sunshine: derivative...and the FLUDD thing was kind of silly.
The parts that I loved? The parts where you'd go in a tunnel, have the FLUDD swiped, and have to navigate a difficult, moving puzzle of doom. THAT was fun. The rest of the game I could do without. When I first played SM64 10+ years ago, I was pretty much filled with delight and wonder. I felt almost none of that playing Sunshine. It looked pretty good, but most of the time, I was bored.
Parker @ Jul 11th 2007 8:16PM
Looks a little disorienting! I'm excited about it, but some of that stuff looks a lot like Knuckles' maddening last level in Sonic Adventure 2, if anybody remembers what I'm talking about... I'm sure it'll be fun though!
Grimbus @ Jul 11th 2007 8:17PM
A lot of this looks really great and unusualy mind-blowing for a game at this stage in the industry's development, but for me, there's one problem: I pretty much hate Mario himself at this point. If that little effer is still seeing fit to go "woo-hoo!" every time he does some crouch jump or whatever, after this many years of doing them, either he's got the brains of a 3-year-old or he's just an attention-hog who's gotta make a high-pitched toot to make everyone look every time he does something by which he thinks they'll be impressed.
Mario was one of the great heroes of my childhood, but gee whiz, he was a plumber from Brooklyn back then; a character that seemed a good role for Bob Hoskins. They way he's portrayed now, he'd be more accurately brought to life by Bozo the Clown, or... who's an a-hole who does every little thing as though he thought it were the most precious, brilliant, and side-splitting thing very enacted by a living creature? There you go: a young Robin Williams with the (vacant) soul of the current thing-going-by-the-name-of-Robin-Williams.
I really want to play this game, and will, as it looks awesome, but I'm _really_, _deeply_ hoping that they give you the option to play as your choice of a few characters, because spending 40 or more hours with that smug little attention'stitute is a really steep price to pay to experience the latest product of the legitimate geniuses at Nintendo.
ConstyXIV @ Jul 11th 2007 8:35PM
Anyone notice the blue pointer floating around alongside the gold pointer near ~15 seconds left?
Co-op mode maybe?
Grimbus @ Jul 11th 2007 8:39PM
@Consty: The girl in the "our whole family plays Wii" video at the press conference said that she played as the second player and thus got to be in "the supporting role". So I reckon you're right. There definitely seems to be some kind of co-op involved. It kind of sounds like the second player is in something of a "gunner" position.
In the trailer, there are parts where Mario's jumping from one thing to the other, and the pointer is being used to shoot little stars at enemies, who then explode and leave more of the same stars there to be picked up, presumably as ammo.
McHoffa @ Jul 12th 2007 1:34AM
I think what the trailer says more than anything is, "There is no excuse for horrid graphics on the Wii"
oni-link @ Jul 12th 2007 4:42AM
Sunshine sucked hard!!! I was bored before I even got to the middle of the adventure. Each level seemed almost the same and FLUDD while nice, didn't really revolutionize and blow my mind away. I loved 64 wayyyy more than sunshine; but that's just me. Galaxy, is looking like it could bring back that old M64, feeling once again for me and many other gamers!!!
Michael Kingston @ Jul 12th 2007 2:00PM
LOOKS GREAT IF A BIT DIS-ORIENTATEING
