Dojo update: Assist Trophies
Today's Dojo update is a fairly awesome. In the same way that Pokeballs allow players to summon captured beasts, Assist Trophies will allow players to summon Nintendo characters outside the confines of the Pokemon universe. As you can see above, players will be able to have the F-Zero franchise's Samurai Goroh on their side, as well as a Hammer Brother. Oh, and that Nintendog we saw back at E3? That's an Assist Trophy, as well.

Smash Bros keeps getting better and better...

Agree:
This shall give the developers the capability to include all the obscure first party characters without having to clog up the game with too many playables
hopefully some of them (like Samurai Goroh) will have their own AI, while some will act like the rarely-seen "enemies" in Melee (like Hammer Bros) while others will just have an effect (like Nintendog)

Earthbound and Fire Emblem assist trophies!

For extra fun, I think that only the trophies you've unlocked will be selectable among the random trophie-balls.
And I *know* Nintendo will code 5 or so "event trophies" only given out by flying to the furthest place on earth and do a 36 hour line.... *sigh*

This is probably one of the best updates since...like last week. But BETTER.
Hopefully we'll get to see some more updated old faces (like Zelda) this week (Preferably Captain Falcon, what with Samurai Goro popping up today)

Use WiiConnect24 to replace or compliment events. This would be perfect to use Pokemon Battle Revolution for Mews and unlocking trophies in SSBB. And they can do WiFi events like they have with Animal Crossing.

hvnlysoldier: I'm well aware of that possibility, however Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have the ability to do it via Mystery Gift, yet they ask gamers to show up at the movie cinema (and even hand them out a pre-caught pokemon instead of the ticket to have them DIY!)
Here's to hoping I don't have to hop on a plane just to get a limited edition digital trophy, or two.

The Wii is my first Nintendo console since SNES so I have never played a Super Smash Brothers game before. It looks pretty cool and I am thinking of getting it but can anyone say for sure if it will in fact be playable online against others? I know this is one Wii game that my wife won't be interested in so I will only be able to play against others if it supports online play.
kintaro @ Jul 3rd 2007 10:23AM
most likely it should be online compatable, but u never know

We really hope so. They haven't confirmed online play, and it is going to be a HUGE update/announcement when they do, but they've hinted at it before.
SSBB is a definite buy, but yeah it wouldn't be as fun if you could only play the 1 player modes.
