Godzilla: Bumpiness Unleashed

You'll have to forgive us. Being Wii gamers, we aren't used to graphics. In all seriousness, we aren't entirely sure what to make of these Godzilla Unleashed screens. The monsters look incredibly detailed, so much so that we're not sure what to think. Are they too bumpy? Too scaly? Is that possible for big ugly monsters? We're going to call it good, since we think it would be bad karma to complain about Wii graphics being too detailed.
No such concerns with the environments. It's like there are next-gen battles waging in a Dreamcast world.

They should include a mode where all the monster and environment models look like rubber suits and call it Retro Vision or whatever that movie monster genre is. But yeah the monsters look good the environments not so hot.

Or they could give them shiny sweat and call it Next-Gen mode.
I kid, I kid... seriously though, it looks nice but it is still by far not representative of the Wii's power. I have little doubt that Wii games will be on-par with the quality of the 360's Kameo by the end of its life.

My guess is that the environments are still in an incomplete phase
There's no call for that kind of quality disparity
Of course, you see the opposite of this in screens for NiGHTS 2, breathtaking environments and the same old Saturn-based character model

That horrible blue/red 3D glasses effect would be cool too.

Eh. Those graphics are nothing when compared to this screen capture:

Wow, the character models look pretty nice. So much so I didn't realize it was a screen shot of a Wii game until I remembered this is Wii Fanboy. That's a good thing. Backgrounds could use a bit more polygons and more detailed textures though.

That is pretty nice for a Wii game, I hope more developers try harder to have good graphics as well.
kraoro @ Jun 14th 2007 4:26PM
Yeah, those are noticeably Wii graphics. There's not enough bloom for those to be 360 or PS3 screens.
Ghen @ Jun 14th 2007 6:40PM
I'm all for any game that actually produces graphics. I'd like to see my Wii actually get a visual workout once in a while. Rent!
Ken @ Jun 14th 2007 6:41PM
Add more bloom, then you'll be in "next-gen" graphics mode.
Orlando Bloom @ Jun 14th 2007 10:26PM
I'm sorry to disappoint my fans, but they refused to put me in the game unless I put on a Godzilla suit, and I'm far too pretty to let them do that to me.

This is probably how the final game will look.
They probably focused most of the system power on making characters with higher-than-normal polycounts. So, the levels sufferw with lower-than-normal polycounts.
Every platform can only produce so many polys at once, without there being slowdown, at least.

Obviously you've never played Tiger Woods 07 for the wii. Player's teeth show through their front lips when they are smiling and that's just the start of it.
JIB @ Jun 15th 2007 1:40PM
Not to mention the fact that the buildings are completely destructible and the arenas are more than likely gonna be huge.
