Pokemon Company CEO: Pokemon is important
Having covered some basically illicit Pokémon content, we'll turn now to more official channels-- it doesn't get more "official" than Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. Ishihara believes that a certain franchise is going to win the "hardware war" for Nintendo. Guess which franchise? No, not Clu Clu Land. "The hardware which has Pokémon on it will be the winner," he told Gamespot. Ishihara was also down on multiplatform development, saying that not being able to design around one system's unique features stifles creativity. Amusingly (to us) Ishihara hinted that he had "ideas" for the next Pokémon games. Of course he does! We all do: they're all in the previous games. We love Pokémon, but we are willing to admit that they're pretty much all the same game.

Obviously we would all want an MMORPG in the vein of the anime.

Yeah, really powered the Gamecube to victory.

How many Pokemon Gamecube titles were there? Like one?
Murry @ Jun 12th 2007 5:10AM
Sure didnt help the GC or N64 any, but I guess 3rd time is a charm?
Given the complete stagnation of ideas in the series and the fact that honestly.. a Pokemon MMO wouldnt be much different than Pokemon now except with other trainer running around on the same map.. I dont think its going to be a major factor in propelling the Wii to the top.

He is kind of right... although they are kind of samey, the Pokemon games sell loads on the handhelds.
And lemme guess, those ideas for the new Pokemon games are... more Pokemon! ... I'm still hoping that one of those ideas is "the ability to, after completing the main gamequest, unlock the ability to travel to a previous region and battle the old gym trainers with your Pokemon"...
I really think that was one of the reasons why Gold and Silver totally kicked ass. After pwning the Elite Four, you could go back to Kanto and battle all the old gyms as well. THEN, you even got to fight the protagonist of the last games, too.

oh ye of little faith. Having an online element is the key to this series continuing and growing. I dont know about you, but personally, i've not had other people to fight/trade with since the red/blue/yellow days, and i doubt im the only one. With a game like pokemon multiplayer is SO essential.
As for 'whoever has pokemon wins'
well, the DS lite seems to be proving that true, even if it was strong before pokemon ;)

I got an email from Nintendo the other day asking me to take a survey on Pearl/Diamond. I gave it pretty average scores on each of the design points, but when asked about "value" and whether I would buy a sequel, I put low scores. I basically did my best within the confines of the survey to let them know that the Pokemon games are repetitive and it's beyond time to try something new. I don't know if they'll listen, though. Repetition has made them tons of money.

Dear pokemon company,
I'm a big fan of pokemon things. And I had suggestions for 4 more games (3 for Nintendo DS and 1 for Gameboy Advance). The 3 for nintendo DS is called "Pokemon Opal" and "Pokemon Topaz" and they start in the Shonto region and "Pokemon Onyx" and it takes place in the Lackto region. But you can make up the pokemon for the 5th and 6th genoration of Pokemon. Then the 1 for gameboy advance is call "Pokemon WaterBlue". It's like "Pokemon FireRed" and "Pokemon LeafGreen" but instead of Kanto "Pokemon WaterBlue" takes place in the Jhoto region. and I have a question: Why doesn't Regigigas look like Regice, Regirock, and Registeel.
One of you biggest fans,
Ryan W. Canning

Yes, I think that Ishihara is right. All the Pokemon games that have been produced so far are more or less the same. But I would like to propose something new! How about making a Pokemon game on the basis of GTA with elements of DragonBall Z Tenkaichi 2? I have an interesting vision of how to do it. I think it would be awesome!
