DS Daily: Phoenix Wright or Ouendan?

The time has come, faithful readers, for us to settle something once and for all. It's bound to be a heated issue, but it's a question worth answering. If you had to choose (and we grow faint just trying to imagine the horror of such a situation) between the Ace Attorney series and the Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents set, which side would you pick? Hot rhythm action or shouts of "Objection!" and an endless cast of wacky characters? It's a tough choice. Let's fight it out.

Phoenix.
Rusted3572 @ Jun 7th 2007 9:18AM
Pheonix Wright Easily.
RupeeClock @ Jun 7th 2007 9:22AM
Have not played Ouendan, so Phoenix Wright without a doubt.
kghovanlou @ Jun 7th 2007 9:45AM
Pheonix. always pheonix.
ojste @ Jun 7th 2007 9:53AM
as much as i love phoenix, im gonna have to go with ouendan.
its a total beast, and also a great use of the touchscreen
Reeve @ Jun 7th 2007 9:54AM
"Nick" and said endless cast of wacky characters, of course!
troy @ Jun 7th 2007 10:01AM
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
Hands down!
Jared @ Jun 7th 2007 10:20AM
Chalk up another vote for Mr. Phoenix Wright, Esquire.
Karga @ Jun 7th 2007 10:08AM
Ehhh, I would love for Phoenix to defend the Ouendan Trio in a tough trial in which they would need to lead him in a song and motivate him, but if I had to pick one or the other, I gotta pick Phonenix Wright. It's a great cast of characters, and every day it confuses me why there's no Gyakuten Saiban Anime Show.
ssuk @ Jun 7th 2007 10:07AM
That's a tough question. I love Phoenix Wright, it's an amazing game which keeps me gripped and I look forward to every episode with great anticipation, however I also love Ouendan... If it goes down to which I play most, however... It's very saddening to say that Ouendan would win.
Now I've played ball, why the hell are people arguing which of two games... Which are DIFFERENT GENRES are better than one another. It's like saying "Which could you live without; sex or breathing?" You can't do without both. =(
Richie @ Jun 7th 2007 10:18AM
I'm just not a big fan of the Ouendan series. However, I'm a colossal fan of Phoenix Wright. So it's a no-brainer for me.
Zachary Hinchliffe @ Jun 7th 2007 10:17AM
Phoenix Wright, although Ouendan is very, very close.
Roger Rees @ Jun 7th 2007 10:45AM
As an attorney, I can't even get past the first stage of PW. As soon as the DDA called the defendant to the stand, I said "Enough of this," and never played it again.
So, I'd definitely take EBA.
Tom @ Jun 7th 2007 12:55PM
Roger, remind me to never have you defend me in court...My vote is Phoenix. (that first stage is a killer =D)
dreamparacite @ Jun 7th 2007 4:45PM
Phoenix, it's got a great story, awesome characters, and should bring back the neat touchscreen things from the first game! I don't even own any Ouendan games, but my brother does and I've played it and Elite Beat agents, both good games, but you gotta pick one.
SmileyDude @ Jun 7th 2007 11:51AM
Ouendan. I've never played Phoenix Wright, so it's not really a fair question. But, even still, I suspect it would still be Ouendan.
Chicago_Josh @ Jun 7th 2007 11:54AM
The Ouendan games offer enough replayability that I'd have to choose Phoenix Wright. I tried giving Justice for All a second play through, but it was a bit too "been there done that" for me.
So, yeah. Phoenix Wright.
shaoron @ Jun 7th 2007 12:10PM
おうえんだん!!!
survey @ Jun 7th 2007 12:17PM
While Phoenix Wright has charming characters, the gameplay, especially in Justice for All, just isn't good enough. I love the Ouendan dances, the music, and the gameplay.
My vote: OSU!
Nycteris @ Jun 7th 2007 12:42PM
Phoenix. I haven't played Ouendan, but Phoenix does not rely on snappy reflexes. So this really a question of mechanics to me. I can get frustrated by being dumb instead of being frustrated by being slow!
Saphion @ Jun 7th 2007 1:00PM
DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!
Crass @ Jun 7th 2007 1:17PM
Its obvious that Phoenix Wright has won, I would pick him as well. Before EBA came out Ouedan was unheard of but Phoenix Wright was popular here. Once EBA came out, anyone who had a flashcart or was willing to import Ouedan went out and played it. I see ouedan really as a fad-game, and Phoenix as a long-lasting franchise with alot more too come.
kian777 @ Jun 7th 2007 1:33PM
You guys who picked Phoenix must really like reading.
I liked Phoenix but I got bored with "And Justice for all"
The Ouendan series including Elite Beat Agents are some of my favorite games. I was a little disappointed with Ouendan 2. The stories were not translated as well and didn't pull me in like Ouendan 1. And although they tried not one of the levels moved me like Dead boyfriend (Ouendan) or dead dad (EBA)
wukong @ Jun 7th 2007 1:31PM
Ouendan/EBA. Probably EBA. Phoenix is alright but still love Ouendan more. Though having the Ouendan team, or Agents, cheer Phoenix to victory would be sweet.
Alisha Karabinus @ Jun 7th 2007 1:35PM
I agree with those who've suggested a Phoenix Wright/Ouendan crossover of some sort. I think that could possibly be the best game ever!
Or, y'know, maybe the worst. Hmmm.
Alisha Karabinus @ Jun 7th 2007 2:09PM
Also, from looking at the picture, did anyone else think that this battle could come down to hair alone? Maybe that's just me.
Covarr @ Jun 7th 2007 2:30PM
Objections are GO!!!!
A crossover game would be freakin' sweet. Personally, I find that I prefer Ouendan to Ace Attorney simply because it has more replay. In Ace Attorney, once you've beaten it, you know exactly what to do and it's just not that fun anymore. In Ouendan and EBA, however, even after you beat it you can still aim for higher scores in each level.
wildweasel @ Jun 7th 2007 2:52PM
Phoenix Wright, dammit!!
Nik @ Jun 7th 2007 8:53PM
Trauma Center :P
Tak @ Jun 7th 2007 3:55PM
Totally unfair poll. Many readers won't have played Ouendan. It's clearly superior though.
Alisha Karabinus @ Jun 7th 2007 4:06PM
Ah, but many have played Elite Beat Agents, at least.
I really can't say who I'd pick. It's a tough call. We'll have to try some other wacky versus days. But I will say this -- these comments have made me giggle all day. DS Fanboy readers are the best of all possible readers!
Javier Silva @ Jun 7th 2007 4:46PM
Ouendan!!! I play ouendan, ouendan 2 and EBA every day xD
Phoenix wright is one of the best games for the ds too, but i think ouendan is better than phoenix w.
Frenkieb @ Jun 7th 2007 5:40PM
Oendan ofcourse!
Badaro @ Jun 7th 2007 10:13PM
As much as a I love Phoenix Wright, I'll have to go with Ouendan/EBA on this one. Best portable games I've ever played.
L @ Jun 7th 2007 10:24PM
Phoenix Wright is awsome, Elite Beat Agents is absolute pop crap. Phoenix Wright FTW!
genghisbunny @ Jun 13th 2007 1:55AM
They're both great games, but Ouendan is more game-like, Phoenix is more movie-like, so I'd pick Ouendan, by a whisker.
But I'd cry if I had to choose, really.
Robert Baldwin @ Jun 8th 2007 12:53AM
Nick
Because, yes, I do like reading!
and I'm less than skilled in rhythm games(not that it keeps me from rocking out in the easy mode on Guitar Hero or torturing my brothers with my singing in Karaoke revolution)
MeLeNaS @ Jun 8th 2007 3:04AM
I like both games, but Ouendan is by far my favorite DS game EVER! I vote for OSU!!!!!
Cheese @ Jun 9th 2007 7:35AM
Gyakuten Saiban, easily.
Katsuya @ Jun 9th 2007 11:05AM
IKUZE! SAN NI ICHI!
Ouendan hands down.
Fraser @ Jun 10th 2007 9:06AM
Ouendan!
I have never played either game, which means my decision actually makes more sense than some of the comments on this page.
"-"
Tuatara @ Jun 10th 2007 12:52PM
I hate you all so much right now. Making me choose between these two is nothing short of torture.
AAGH.
Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan.
I'm not proud of myself. ;__;
Author X @ Jun 10th 2007 4:17PM
I... umm... I... crap, uh... it...
*head explodes*
Mewgia @ Jun 11th 2007 12:51PM
I hate to choose, -but-, I have to go with Phoenix. I just love figuring out the cases in PR, and get a nice sense of elation whenever I finish a case without much trouble.
Dan Dandrea @ Jun 12th 2007 2:20PM
Ouendan/EBA is way better man. It feels so rewarding
after you have beaten Jumpin Jack Flash on Hard Rock mode and unlock commander Kahn as a playable charicter! He shakes his BUTT to the music! It's HILLARIOUS! Ouendan is preety awesome too! I can wait to get Ouendan 2!
