Rumors: Mario Kart Wii, dates for Smash and Galaxy at E3
French gaming site JeuxFrance is reporting on a few rumors involving the house that N built, mostly revolving around a portly plumber. They're stating that Nintendo is planning on whipping out some big guns at the show, revealing the next installment in the Mario Kart franchise for the Wii, as well as solid release dates for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Galaxy. As if that weren't enough, they're also reporting that Nintendo will have some big hardware news for us.Maybe they're going to reveal a headset add-on for the Wiimote? As for the other rumors, it's a safe bet that Nintendo will be giving us the goods on release dates for its hottest games this year, already providing us a release date for one of this year's most anticipated games, but the Mario Kart news is anyone's guess. It would make sense for Nintendo to bring a Mario Kart game to the Wii, but is the timing right?

Well, here's hoping!
Doesn't sound much like nintendos thing though
Spekkio @ Jun 1st 2007 2:34PM
A headset add-on? Don't make me laugh. Nintendo is committed to preventing any form of text/verbal communication in their online games to prevent them from being used by child predators.

I can believe it. After the Big Three come out this year (we'll see...), Nintendo is going to need SOMETHING else to keep the fanboy hype up.
...although, y'know...a new Kid Icarus would be a LOT more exciting than a new Mario Kart...

SWEET! Can't wait for Mario Kart on teh Wii! Should be fun as hell.
sony defense team assemble...NOW!

I guess you just don't know how to drive with excitment

A Mario Kart announcement would be clutch. Nintendo's got a lot of momentum built up over Wii Sports and the hugely successful launch, they've done a great job of maintaining it through assurances that big games are coming soon - a few more big promises for early/mid 2008 might put the Wii on top for good.
Also, I wonder if the hardware announcement could have anything to do with DVD playback, either through new units (possibly with new colors?) or just via firmware update. I'm hoping for the latter, since I'm getting annoyed with switching my DVD player and Wii on my one set of component inputs - I'd definitely pay $10-20 for that function as well.

@2 Spekkio:
Yeah, Nintendo really doesn't want people using the voice chat in Metroid Prime Hunters, Jump Ultimate Stars, Pokemon, Planet Puzzle League, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam...
Oh, and they all used the DS's built-in mic

so what happens when these games FINALLY come out, the same shit that happened to gamecube, nothing comes out ever again, RIP Wii in 2008

But see, that should be right around the time that all those third party devs get their games out, after screwing the pooch for no release titles.
WhatIsThatThing @ Jun 1st 2007 3:36PM
I can see the new SpOnG inside report: Shigeru Miyamoto will be there! During the press conference, 3 new games will be released! There will be a...gasp...press conference!

The Wii will die out in 2008. XBox 360 will win this generations counsel war. It has virtually the same power as the PS3 and it will eventually be half the price. The PS3 will be the Sega Master System.

I'd be hoping that they would unlock 720p or at least 540p functionality, the hardware numbers say its physically possible
But i'd be more willing to bet on colors and a headset
The rest of that article is really just a group of likely assumptions (i too assume that at least Galaxy will get a solid release date at the event)

"I guess you just don't know how to drive with excitment"
Nope. I drive like an old lady who's off her meds.
But a new Kid Icarus would still be seen as bigger, more exciting news over (ANOTHER!) Mario Kart, methinks.
But I wants it. I wants my new Icarus so bad I'd become a bondage slave and have sex with old hairy men for it.

...Sometimes I manage to gross even myself out.

Hells yeah, I'm looking forward to M-Kart Wii more than Galaxy, Prime3 (not that im even loking forward to this one) and Smash Bros by far!
So wish they would re-release MK64 with online play. If they did that they could not release another game for a year and I wouldn't notice.

I'd be happy about a new Mario Kart, hopefully something that leaves Double Dash!! in the dust and lives up to Mario Kart DS... Now, if you can get 8 racers online at the same time, and *GASP* battle mode online, it might be the greatest Mario Kart ever.
I don't expect a release date for Brawl, but maybe, just maybe, one for Galaxy...
tiamat1990 @ Jun 1st 2007 6:09PM
Please please let it be some sort of storage device...
Carl @ Jun 4th 2007 4:53PM
Who says a microphone would be used to talk to other players? There are plenty of interesting things you could do with voice recognition... especially when you think out of the box.. like nintendo is becoming famous for doing.. hrmm..
pwnstr @ Jun 7th 2007 12:14AM
i have heard rumors of a new storage device. and text input would make more sense than a mic
truplaya @ Jun 7th 2007 2:20PM
I actually heard a rumor that it could be a hard drive for the Wii.
truplaya @ Jun 7th 2007 2:22PM
but honestly I don't think it is, since putting a hard drive in it will make it more expensive...and Nintendo is all about affordable.
