I'd rather it be a Flying V, but that's pretty dang awesome.
Tom @ Jun 1st 2007 12:58AM
I refuse to play with anything less than a Dean Baby ML, preferably with a matte silver finish.

guitar snobs. Go get a real guitar and then get a room.
Deezul @ Jun 1st 2007 6:14AM
Agreed sergei! Geta freaking real instrument. Hey, instead of Rock Band, why not find three friends and start a REAL BAND!
strongbad79 @ Jun 1st 2007 10:17AM
I play real guitar and have for 16 years. I've played in bands and am starting another one soon. I still love guitar hero though. I'll be buying this as soon as it comes out. It's not the same or even close to playing real guitar. If someone wants to play the game instead of the real thing then let them. Who cares.
As far as the controller I think it looks great. I love the les paul in real life.
Gonefission @ Jun 1st 2007 10:47AM
Don't play Forza, learn to drive a real car!
Don't play Splinter Cell, learn to assassinate real people!
Don't play Pokemon, learn how to train your pets to fight each other!
Don't play GTA, learn to do a real drive by!
Don't play Halo, learn to kill real aliens!
Don't play Mario, learn to jump on real mushrooms!
See how retarded Guitar Hero 'learn to play a real guitar' haters sound when applied to other games?

Looking good, but I think the "Gibson Kramer" version that will be on PS2 will look even better.
I have a Wii and a PS2, so I'll have to choose. Tough decision!
Matt @ Jun 1st 2007 3:14PM
I'm not one for the whole wannabe guitarist, as I myself play in a band, but I like how this is going. It's bringing rock and bands into the public again where they should be, not rap. Looks very, very nice though. Can't wait for it.
Pikachelsea @ Jun 1st 2007 3:04PM
"Hey, instead of Rock Band, why not find three friends and start a REAL BAND!"
You say that as if everyone in the world knows how to play an instrument and has the time and resources to play in a band. Do you have any idea how much it costs to take guitar lessons? It's not cheap, and that's before you even factor in the price of the guitar.
If I could play a real guitar, I would. Since I don't, why don't you shut up and let people enjoy their games.
Bronowyn @ Jun 1st 2007 3:24PM
Too bad they are still ignoring the LEFTY guitar hero players.
JRP @ Jun 1st 2007 3:22PM
Hey can I have some of your hatorade?
tim @ Jun 1st 2007 6:55PM

i think its easily to do the buttons with your left hand and strum with your right and im a lefty

I've never tried Guitar Hero for the fear it would compromise my guitar playing (i.e. pick up bad habits). Can any experienced guitar players refute or support this? It would be awesome if it would actually HELP, but if it doesn't affect my real guitar playing, then I will be picking up a copy asap.
Coocha @ Jun 1st 2007 4:09PM
Pikachelsea:
Tom Morello, guitarist from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, took one or two guitar lessons his entire life. IIRC, he learned how to tune his guitar and a couple basic chords. The rest is self-taught. A used acoustic guitar with halfway decent intonation can usually be found for less than the price of Guitar Hero II if you're willing to look. So while you have a point, and I'm not trying to down on you for enjoying a video game, your argument is specious.
It's all about how you prefer to spend your time. You could be practicing button hits on a fingers-version of DDR, or you could be practicing with a garage band in your spare time.
(Yes, I'm a guitarist, and yes I suck at guitar hero, and yes I still think it's a fun game, especially w/friends. I just dislike reading flawed arguments as much as you dislike reading posts from Guitar Hero haters.)
Coocha @ Jun 1st 2007 4:16PM
s1mulacrum:
No, it doesn't make you pick up bad habits. The game feels very synthetic compared to actually playing. But from another angle, if you're good at guitar, you'll probably suck at Guitar Hero, at least at first. Somewhere on the web is a video of a guitarist from a band (Slayer? can't remember... it was metal) who couldn't play his own song, that he co-wrote, in Guitar Hero. pwnd by his own song...it was hilarious.
Jenny @ Jun 1st 2007 4:19PM

It was Scott Ian from Anthrax. Awesome.
joegibes @ Jun 2nd 2007 7:56AM
I don't like the "learn real guitar" comments. I believe that Guitar Hero, being a video game, is no substitute for learning the real thing.
However, it IS a video game, and so should be enjoyed as such. I play bass guitar in a little "garage band" with my friends and we're not bad (I'm only sixteen though) and I also play Guitar Hero occasionally (but I suck).
I'm not saying Guitar Hero is a complete waste of time either -- It's a fun game, and it's awesome to crank up the volume and jam with a friend (and they don't have to be talented either!).
I also like the changeable faceplates -- I can finally rock out with the sweet looking white bullseye with camo design.
Ashton @ Jun 3rd 2007 3:31AM
If you haven't read it yet it makes a clear point.

I agree go get a real instrument. and for those of you who think it's too expensive, try adding the cost of the xbox and guitar hero and all the other games you have. A guitar will actually last the rest of your live. most people quit playing video games by at least thirty. I think the main problem with this game is that people spend way to much of their time practicing something that is going to get them nowhere. this game sucks dont waste your lives on it. Plus guitar is actually more fun once you learn to play it. and you can get free help online dont have to take lessons.
