Playing Xbox 360 games with a Wii remote [update 1]
As you can probably tell from the image above, this sort of project wouldn't be safe in the hands of a wiring novice. Wii-FTW forum admin Sir CRX hacked his Wiimote and Xbox controller to accept bluetooth commands, sending them to his 360 console. The mod doesn't yet incorporate any of the remote's "waggle" functions and only supports four of its buttons, but Sir CRX has hinted that there will be updates and a possible tutorial coming soon. Head past the post break for video of the cross-console controller in use.

I gotta call fake on this one.

Awesome if true and possible. Iwouldn't mind palying Gears of War with a wiimote. And with a tutorial of this, I wont have to daydream how awesome such and such game would be on the Wii, I could just use the wiimote.

It is so awful it makes me laugh.

meh its just a simple buttons translation. They wouldn't be able to change it so you could play Gears with the pointer but rather tilting the wiimote to aim is more probable. Google Half-Life 2 played with wiimote to see what I mean. Not exactly ideal, and probably more of a hassle than it's worth.

wouldnt it be easier to go through a pc first? like have the wiimote software translate it to joypad controls and then somehow back out a usb port to the controller port on the 360? i dunno im just kinda talking out of my ass here but to me that seems really easy....

First of all: you don't see a 360. or any indication that it is connected to the 360... Second, The controller isn't even on! At when there is 1:12 remaining he lifts his hands off of the Remote and there are no lights on the remote. Third, you can hear a keyboard in the background, he's just trying to mimic what's happening. Not to mention it's on a Computer too..
Took a Screenie of when you see that the controller is off here:

@Dragod
I've never rewired anything before but since he doesnt have all the functionality working on the control yet, i bet he didnt really care about plugging in the power for the wii symbol
Jenny @ May 29th 2007 12:36PM
so we can expect an official Wii mote from Microsoft in future :D

Odd, I did the same exact thing over the weekend only with a Dreamcast controller. I'll have a video later when I get home now that I know people are intrested in this.
JAck @ May 29th 2007 2:28PM
This is LAME! why on earth would you want this? The wii-mote is fine but not better than the 360! How would you be able to shift-up, shift-down, change camera views, etc? Stupid
Nemesis @ May 29th 2007 3:44PM
@Dragod
I'm not saying this is real or fake, to light the wiimote lights you would have to find a way to tell the 360 to illuminate them. For example when you pair a wiimote with a pc the controller will still be on, but no lights will be on unless you tell the lights to come on in glovepie(or any similar app)
pikadude @ May 29th 2007 4:59PM
anyone notice the black wiimote in the first pic, or are my eyes broked
Sam Pearce @ Jun 29th 2007 11:53AM
You would need to program the 360 to work the lights, but this doesnt explain why there is keyboard tapping in the background, and why the car accelerates when he is pushing the brake button lol!
But overall from the pic it atleast lokks like he tried.
It seems that the steering seems reletively accurate i thik that he programed the wii mote to the keyboard and then he needs someone else to accelerate and brake. I think il say well done for trying.

Yeah, Im gonna have to go with "fake" on this one, not to say it cant be done on a much higher scale but You can clearly see that hes not really controlling anything as soon as the race starts (he presses RIGHT but the car went LEFT) lol.
Heh its only a matter of time before the Wii remote becomes the the standard controller mod across all PC & Consoles alike (not a bad thing).
