Two player possibilities in Umbrella Chronicles?

One of the benefits of deciding not to take the game the route of Resident Evil 4 is the possibility of two-player co-operative gameplay. Of course, given the trailers we've seen from the game that have Chris and Jill running together through the mansion, plus the nature of on-rails shooters themselves, the likelihood of being able to play with a friend is very high. The latest news also confirms a list of playable characters, including Chris, Jill, Carlos Oliveira, Rebecca Chambers, Billy Coen, Albert Wesker, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, with each character having their own signature maneuver (such as a roundhouse kick or knife slash).

Well, the Capcom website mentions dual player gameplay.
"Resident Evil®: The Umbrella Chronicles combines two player, first-person, light-gun style combat with interactive pathways, multiple weapons and new enemies to create an entirely new Resident Evil® experience that can only be delivered on the Wii™."

I REALLY hate to say this, but the more I think about it, the more I might enjoy this game. I'm still PISSED Capcom ditched the amazing-ness that was RE4 for a rails shooter, assuming Wii owners would rather have this (given the choice I'd TOTALLY take RE4 sequel) but maybe I should set aside my stubbornness... It could be a good game...

And how about you wait for a little while longer? RE 5 has been announced, video has been shown and its confirmed as in development. I really don't think the Wii will be abandoned considering RE 4 was chosen for the GameCube first. RE 4 revitalized the Resident Evil games, and made Capcom buckets of money. The PS2 version didn't exist for at least a year after the Cube version. I see Umbrella Chronicles as a test bed for Capcom to see how controls and other Wii features will work with their RE game. I fully expect RE 5 to be on the Wii, we may not get it first, but Wii will have it. And personally, I think a real RE rails shooter game would be great. Especially one that has already been guaranteed to have more content and longer play time than the previous shooters.

This game is looking so awesome. After playing Wii Play Shooting for 15 minutes my GF said "they should make a game like this, only where you kill zombies, and with some kind of story"
I said, "Oh they will, they will..."

So they decided to forego giving Wii owners a "serious" RE, and gave us a fangasm like this instead?
I'm not complaining...
Its RE "House of the Dead" with RE4+ graphics and all the in-depth RE goodness you can shake a stick at
unless the final build is as easy as that demo they had for gamers day, i can see no way this game could suck

Well considering the link Trekkervger posted, I'd say two player co-op is all but confirmed. This would rock. My wife and I could play together.

Sounds good. Come on Capcom, let us play as Barry already. Barry! Barry!!
