Wii Warm Up: Check out this RE4 boxart

Not so much a discussion topic today as it is a directed viewing. This is the boxart for the European release of Resident Evil 4. It's basically the PAL PS2 boxart, but white instead of red.

We are now totally okay with the tacked-on waggle controls, and the fact that it's a Wii port of a game that is two years old and can already be played on Wii, because it's got really nice boxart. We're not even being sarcastic. Too bad about the "Wii Edition" thing, but we'll look past that. So what's your opinion? Awesome boxart, or totally awesome boxart?

It's not very awesome, should have stuck with the PS2's red or even better, had the red fade into the white. Black and white alone doesn't look very cool at all.

And why the hell didn't Capcom just call Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition... Resident Evil 4? The Wii Edition bit looks tacky... However, I think Capcom are litterally just taking the mick with this game, cheesy horror-movie acting in adverts, silly names, quick photoshopped box art... So how many bets this will retail for full Wii game RRP?

I don't like it at all, actually. I prefer the US RE4Wii version. I'd even rather have the US GC cover with just a Wii bar on the top.

I'd say its very awesome, but I think it would have been better with Leon silouetted in his Hand Cannon pose than the Chainsaw Maniac

Also, in regards to "how this is a WWU": I was hoping people would want to talk about this box, which they are.

The US one is a CG shot of Leon posing dramatically, right? I usually like these "art" game boxes more than "here are the characters" boxes.

I kind of like it. What would have made it better (maybe) would be if Leon were standing as a silhouette and it looked like the chainsaw dude was coming up behind him. Maybe not though, because it could make it look too crowded. And I agree with "Wii version" tackiness thing. I'll probably buy this once the price goes down, but only because I was SOOOOO disappointed with the new RE coming out. This game was AMAZING by the way. I put it in my top 5 best games I've played.

@JC Fletcher: I suppose the chainsaw guy could have wet trousers...and what about zombies themselves...I am sure there is trouble with bladder controll...that makes quite a few candidates for the "wet trousers column"...just saying.

I like the more "artistic" boxarts as well, but I'm so used to us getting not-so-great boxes here, that I don't really get too excited over them any longer.

After seeing the boxart, I'd actually like to see a "Resident Evil: Sin City" edition, black and white with splotches of color where best applied (easily for blood). =P

Alisha: it's true. We get terrible boxart in the US, all the time. It's all CG-character-poses and no art. Sigh.

Zack: There's a lot we don't know about zombie biology. It didn't occur to me until you said that that zombies might in fact pee. And they wouldn't care to hold it. Of course, the RE4 guys aren't exactly zombies, so who knows?

I am sad that $30 is considered "budget price" in this console generation.

I really like it. And as for it being a port, adding waggle, etc...I don't really mind, since I didn't own a GameCube. Since the price is going to be less than $50, I'm buying it in a heartbeat when it comes out. And I love the box art, so how can I go wrong?

Wow, "Wii Version" on the Wii box that says "Wii" on it. Talk about redundant. Almost bad enough to join the ranks of Sega's Ghost House and Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: Konami's Best Edition.
