According to the latest
Famitsu, a new
Star Ocean will be announced at the upcoming Square Enix party, but beyond that, we don't know anything else -- including which platform will have the honor of the title. With the
Square Enix-
Nintendo romance of late, we wouldn't be too surprised to see
Star Ocean venture Wii-ward, but we're not ready to call this one for our camp just yet. As much as we might
hope for it, it seems likely SE will throw some sort of bone to the other guys. Then again, it's Nintendo that's collecting all the
Dragon Quest love, and that's a pretty big deal.
Perhaps Star Ocean could be a nice fit on the Wii. Where do you see it going?

It will probably stay on playstation because the first game was never released outside of japan so there probably is a small amount of english speaking people who have played a star ocean game on anything but a sony machine.

I think that screenshot comes from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. My brother and I liked it. Well I liked it until the Disk Read Error struck. The first disk got some rings around it preventing progress. When we got a replacement I realized I don't like cinematic games anymore. They're starting to take too much of my time now becoming an adult, the voice acting puts me off unlike some of our previous cinematic games. FFIX is very pretty but has no voice acting and still familiar gameplay so I could play it and enjoy the occasional FMV. This thing has such long dialogues with sometimes inane voice work. Weird animations reminiscent of the uncanny valley. Even harder grinding for all the skills and item creation.
I'll take games that I can play that are very fun and if the movie scenes are done well like for Zelda or RE4 I'll play those.

It would be nice to have it on Wii, but the smartest moves for JRPG developers are PS2 and DS, both of which I also like.

I'm with you, JC -- I doubt it, but I think it really depends on the Japanese market with this one.
